Anyone else not use Activity Points?

  • I don't count them at all - I don't even mark them down anywhere - I figure that it kind of counteracts the workout if I eat more KWIM? Anyone else think like this?
  • I don't count them either - but mostly because I am too lazy to figure them out. If I have a hard workout and am extra hungry, I will figure them in, but most of the time I just go for walks which doesn't use up lots of energy.

A few of my local WW leaders have said that you don't have to count them if you don't want to and that it will improve your weight loss. This contradicts the WW official line, but seems to work just fine.

I think you would only run into trouble if you are getting and hour plus of vigorous exercise per day, in that case you probably wouldn't be getting enough calories if you didn't use them. I wish I was getting enough exercise for that to be a concern. Today for instance. I am taking the kids on a 3 mile hike around a local lake. Walking at the pace of a 2 year old just doesn't cut it for real exercise.
  • I don't add them in either. I just write down what I did, so I know that I did exercise for the day. Keeping it journaled has helped me too, that way I know I do something different each day since I get bored with working out pretty easily.

Actually sometimes this is detrimental to your body (not always but sometimes) when you are move active your body MAY need more to keep it from thinking it is starving and with W/W there is always a deficit in the amount of calories so you needed worry about counteracting the good of the exercise with more food. But since they are ALWAYS optional there is no right or wrong.

W/W says in very general terms 1 food point is equal to approximately 50 calories and W/W says in very general terms 1 activity point is equal to approximately 100 BURNED calories.....so you will still be taking in less than you spent.
  • Finally I always use them (and FPs too) because usually the more you eat while losing the more you get at maintenance and less chance you feel you are dieting to maintain. I truly feel the reason I get 34-35 TPs a day, plus 3-5 APs 6 days a week and all 35 FPs on maintenance is because I ate all I was given OR earned during my weight loss.
