How much sugar?

  • Hi,
I am not losing as much as I think I should and I'm wondering if I'm eating too much sugar. For a snack after dinner I have a no sugar added Klondike ice cream sandwich. It's delicious, but has 15 grams of sugar. It is 2 points. I'm allowed 24 points each day.

How many sugar grams am I allowed?
  • there is no rda for sugar but icecream every night could be the problem. have you thought about ffsf pudding or a fruit smoothie instead?

avg losses are 4-8 lbs monthly
  • I agree with andrea - sometimes its not just the points you need to look at
but sugar and salt content too.

Try rotating the ice cream with fresh fruit salad, a cup of decaf chai and a piece of dark chocolate, an apple or pear with some low fat cheddar. etc. and see if that works.
  • Actually if you read through your 8 Great Health Guidelines W/W does make a recommendation for sugar but technically if you meet all your nutritional guidelines (based on the 8 Great Health Guidelines) and stay within your total points (TPs + APs + FPs) you'll lose.....and still be healthy as well as enjoy that treat.
  • Hi there i am sorry i havent been on much lately but i have been doing some relief work for a childcare centre and because i havent been working for 5years it has taken it out ofme. I have been so tired these last few days. I am now doing full time work which i start on friday so hopefully i will be able to come on a little during the week at night.

Been binging a bit lately, due to working long hours i dont know how the full time working mothers go to work all day, pick up everyone come home cook and get things ready for the next day. I will have to be a bit more organized for dinner if i want to lose weight. I dont know how people can afford take out all the time because it was costing us a fortune. I missed my plain ole vegies and meat for dinner nothing flash.

I put on at weight watchers this week only 0.7kgs. I had a driinking night friday night last week it was the spur of the moment thing and i regreted it the next day.

    My goals this week are:

Not to buy take out at all this week.
    Exersice at least 3 days
    drink more H2O
    Have home cooked meals everynight
  • How much are you losing? And how much do you think you should be losing?

It's natural to want to lose weight faster- but it might be more sustainable if you lose weight slower without feeling deprived. I personally don't find anything wrong with a treat every day if it's accounted for and if the rest of your day is healthy.
