  • Hello everyone! I've got a question. Ok I was thinking last night about something and I have no clue what it would be. I've been a size 26/28 for a while now. When I started WW this last time I weighed 353. I was still wearing my 26/28 barely and are just now getting back in to that size comfortably. I was wondering what size I might possibly be (I know everyone is different because of proportions and stuff but just to get an idea) when I hit my 100 mark of 253. Is there anyone that can help me w/ this? lol Any kind of help would be fabulous!
  • On Oprah yesterday they said 1 dress size/10 pounds, so according to that you'd be about a 16/18. However, I think it might be more complicated than that, it probably depends on how your body distributes the weight loss...whether you loose in your legs, hips, trunk, chest, or arms, etc.
  • that 10 pound for 1 dress size is an average but some people it takes more than 20 pounds to move a size.

It all depends on where you carry your weight.

It also depends on how much muscle mass you have.

For example both my friend and I are 5'4" and she and I both weigh between 149-151 and she wears a size 4-6 depending on the style and I wear a 8-10 depending on the style.
  • Thank ya'll! That helps me so much! and I knew that it would be different on everyone but having an idea makes me feel better! lol Thanks again!
  • It's more like 25 pounds = one dress size for me. It really does vary so much depending on height and body type. I'm 5'9" and "big-boned," so I always wear a bigger size than you'd think I do. My 5'1" friend and I lost 50 pounds together five years ago and I lost two sizes but she lost five! I was still wearing my biggest jeans sometimes (though they were starting to fall off) and she had to buy all new clothes. Height is a huge factor. When I was in college and weighed 140, I was thin and wore a size 14, which is normally considered "average" or even big to some people!
  • I am 5'10½" and 'big boned'. It takes me probably 20-25 pounds to drop a size. I was a 22/24 at 316 pounds, and now I am an 18W at 253.
  • I am 5'5" & a bit pear shaped. When I was 255, I wore a size 24 jeans exactly. It depends on your shape, height, and how you generally carry weight. Many other girls that are more hour-glassed shaped or top-heavy wear a 20 or 22 at 255. Oh...I also have had 2 c-sections and that has a BIG affect on the size jeans you wear
  • When I was at 300, like you, I was the same size, a tight 26, but a comfortable 28, so we might be built similar. And this is how I went down:
At the highest weights, the size was fitted/tight and at the lowest, it was loose.
    From 307-265: 26/28W (26W at the lowest)
    265-240: 24W
    240-225: 22W
    225-200: 18W
    200-190:18 regular
    190-180: 16 regular
    180-1??: 14 regular

I would gather that it takes 25 pounds usually to drop a size in the W's, and then 10 pounds for the regular sizes. That's how it's working for me.
  • Ya I knew it was different for everyone but I just wanted to get an idea! lol and ya'll sure did give me idea's lol. Thanks so much! This is why I love 3FC!

I suspected this, too! "Regular" sizes seem to change every 10 pounds, whereas plus sizes have a little more room to grow.

This is very similar to me too. My highest weight was 253, and I wore size 22 jeans (barely though!). Currently I'm 204, and I'm in an 18W from Lane Bryant. Those are my favorites right now. I do have 2 pairs of regular size 18 jeans- one from Bill Blass and one from Harley-Davidson. The HD ones are great- they have just a tiny bit of stretch and fit really well. The BB ones gap at my waist, but are still a bit snug in the hips and thighs.
  • I wa 310 pounds and 5'4 at a size 32 (pants) when I started. I'm almost 6 months into maintainence at 135-140, now 5'6 and now a size 4 or juniors-5 and a size 6 dress. Yes I grew 2 inches in height when the weight came off (because my spine is no longer compacted).
  • I am an oddball, at around 200, I am still in the 22 size range. I have to be below 175 to fit in the 16-18's. I am 5'5".

Okay, this is something I have NEVER heard before!!!! I want to grow taller too!!!! I actually may HAVE grown a bit, because I was 5'6 and 3/4 and now I'm 5'7 and 3/4. But I also hadn't been measured since high school, so I thought I just hadn't stopped growing yet.

This is one weight loss phenomenon I have never heard anything about. It's strange.

Did your doctor say that you grew because your spine became un-compacted?

BTW, do you have a before picture you can inspire us with?
  • Ya I would love to see a photo also! That's awsome! And I hope I grow when I get most of this weight off lol I'm shorter than my younger sister and my mom and I don't like being the short one lol. I hope you all havea great day!
