101 Tips & Tricks - Day 14

  • Tip #14 - Avoid Eating "Amnesia"

Certain practices, including eating in front of the TV, eating while standing up or eating off your kids' plates, can make you easily forget how much you've put in your mouth, says Kathleen Zelman, MPH, RD, director of nutrition at WebMD.com and a nutrition consultant in Atlanta. In these instances, you're not paying attention, you're just going hand to mouth and you don't realize how many calories you're getting. The solution: Eat only at a table and off your own plate.

  • Is that like "bet ya can't eat one".....lol

  • I'm guilty of grabbing a handful of cashews while cooking dinner. While cashews aren't horrible, I'm not necessarily remembering to add this to fitday.
  • One way to not go into zombie eating mode while wathcing tv/movie is before you sit down with your snack, measure out only the portion you want to eat and put the rest away. You are less likely to get back up to get more =)
