Are Blue Corn chips okay?

  • HI everyone! I just started reading sugar busters book and wanted to know if Blue corn chips are okay or is it still corn? Also are soy chips okay?

Also i've noticed that the wheat bread I buy has HFC. Are they any brands that don't have HFC or other sweetners?

Does anyone make their own bread?

    Thanks
    Kim
  • I can't tell you about the corn...I would think corn is corn, but someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

Great Harvest Bread Co. doesn't use HFC - they use honey. I know I saw other labels that didn't...I think Aunt Millie's new line of healthier breads is one and Meijer's store brand is another, if you have them near you.
  • Corn IS corn, and blue does not make it legal for Sugar Busters. I don't know what all the ingredients are on the soy chips, so I can't tell you. I personally will not eat soy because I have thyroid problems, and it is really bad for your thyroid.

I have found a Pepperidge Farms natural whole wheat bread that does not contain HFCS. They have two, one a dark German whole wheat, that is nutty and good, and the other a plain one. Sara Lee makes a honey whole wheat bread that is ok, but it tastes too sweet to me, even though the sugar grams are not too high.

I make my own bread sometimes...usually in the winter as I try not to bake much in the summer. There are a number of good recipes on the Sugarbusters recipe board.
