Any one tried the Shangri La Diet??

  • Hello Everyone,
Has anyone tried the Shangri la Diet? I have started and am doing reasonably well . Reasonably is up for grabs at this point.
The olive oil between meals is cheap and good for you. It curbs your appetite. Anyway I just wondered if anyone also has tried it or is on it.

  • I haven't read the book, so all I know about it is from snippets on the web. It sounds kind of weird and gimmicky. I personally would gag if I swallowed straight oil. I don't even like cooked foods with a greasy feel to them, lol. Olive oil is good for you, but only when you use it to replace other fats in your diet. It's not recommended to consume it as an 'extra' fat.

Most people overeat from stress or boredom, not from hunger. I'm not sure how the oil or sugar water would help in those cases.

The info I read about this diet states that it recommends bland foods. Is that correct?

Dr David Katz, a well known weight loss expert, wrote The Flavor Point Diet and his research showed something a little different. He does state that flavor stimulates the appetite, which is what the Shangri-La diet also seems to points out, but Katz took a different route. He suggested carrying flavor themes throughout your meals, which caused you to be satisfied with less food, thereby cutting your calories. You don't have to drink oil or sugar water, and it's a nutritionally balanced diet plan.
  • Hi Suzanne,
Thanks for your answer. I don't consume anyother oils. I thought taking olive oil by the tbl full would be awful - but surprise it's not. You just eat healthy and leave the junk food alone. I don't pay any attention to the bland food idea. Here's hoping.

  • Shangri La Diet
    Hello Everyone,
Well, I'm still steaming along on the Shangri-La diet and doing very well.
As of tomorrow, I will be down seven pounds. I feel good and my skin has a better tone. I attribute that to the oil. Nothing to it. Very easy for me.
No complicated way of eating - no calorie counting - no diary to keep.
    It works for me.

I will keep you posted as to how I am doing.

  • Hi, sounds interesting. What exactly is the Shangri La Diet?
  • I have been on this method for a week with instant and amazing results.
  • Anyone who's interested in more info on the Shangri La diet should check out 3FC's review on the home page.
  • Shangri La Diet
    Hi
I did read the review on the home page. Yes, is can be confusing - I just know that you can't lose weight and eat whatever you want. The oil simply cuts my appetitie. I do eat healthier. My skin tone and hair are looking better.
Sometimes the oil goes down slow - but I don't mind it. There is nothing to hurt you on this diet - just eat healthy and yes, do excercise. Seth Roberts doesn't advocate exercise - but says if you already are don't stop. For me it is a necessity to ride the old treadmill. I would get no where otherwise - no matter what diet I have chosen. So time will tell. The last two weeks have been a bummer because of the heat and humidity.
So - happy and healthy eating to everyone
