Well, it seems that I have started an obsessive compulsive relationship with my scale, and unfortunately, i dont think its working out for me. I can remember the years that went by when I didn't weigh myself once and now I wonder how i did it! At the beginning of my "weight loss/healthy journey" I only weighed myself one time a week, and I think its time to get back to that. I'm going crazy each morning wondering why I weigh 2 oz more than yesterday, when really it might be nothing at all, so from here on out, I'm back to once a week. Sunday is my day! Any other obsessive compulsive weighers feel free to join me!

Good plan! I have a love-hate relationship with my scale. When I'm losing I'm on it ALL THE TIME congratulating myself over losses that I know aren't fat at all and worrying about gains that are also not really fat gains. When I'm gaining I ignore it as much as possible and pretend it isn't even there.
Sometimes it is hard to keep in mind that it isn`t about the numbers on the scale, but health and how your body is working.

I think that it's a great idea to ditch the scale when you become too obsessed. I generally weigh myself every day (most days) because I've found that it keeps me on track (even if I know its water weight, seeing a high number will make me keep my eating in check!). However, sometimes when I know I am eating right and weight just isn't coming off, I'll stash it under the bed. I DON'T, though, hide it when I know I'm not eating right and gaining weight!!

Me too. However, lots of the time I allow the scale to dictate how I feel about myself. If the scale is up I tend to feel really crappy about the day, myself, ect. whether or not it is due to me overeating or just totm water weight. This is why plateaus are really emotionally difficult for me to handle because I just feel like a fat failure.

My scale is stupid and digital (yet, kind of expensive) and this morning it said 214.5 and I was pretty excited. So I got on it again because it has a tendency to be different.. and when I got on again it was 218.
I was pretty bummed, but I decided that no matter which one was correct, I couldn`t let that number change my plans to live well today.

I wasn't trying to throw myself a pity party or anything, but you all know how it goes when that stupid scale won't budge and ya start the negative thinking.

Yikes! That is a BIG difference for a digital scale (mine will give me a 0.4 - 0.6 pound variance occasionally, but usually it will give me the same weight or maybe a 0.2 pound variance). Have you changed the batteries recently? If they are low, that might give you more variability.

Also, the scale needs to be calibrated properly...that's why it's best not to change the position of the scale when you're weighing yourself. Same time + same place = better results (if scale has been self-calibrated properly for digi)

Grad & Star- Yea... the scale is kind of bizarre. I got the most expensive one I could find (ok, at Target, but it was expensive nonetheless..) because I wanted it to be accurate. It's been kooky with the numbers since I got it, but I'll try to change the battery and see if that helps. Most of the time I just weigh like.. 3 times and eventually it will "settle" on a number and stop changing.

I think mine is broken. I've weighed myself like 6 times within a minute, and I weighed 207,199,202,204. What the heck is that?

Sometimes I'll step on it, only it'll hook up on something and say I'm 175.
Thats really annoying. That false sense of joy with the nagging feeling that it doesn't quite fit, but you want it to so bad. GRRR!

This might not be the best of ideas, but I think I'm going to just go on actual results and not numbers for the time being. It's too hard for me to get an accurate reading, and I put too much worth on it. So forget it, I just wanna look good.
