  • WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
    We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

    Motivational Monday
    Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
    Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
    Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

    WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!
  • At work today, I moved into my desk, and started doing my job for "real". I trained for about 2 hours, and then my manager told me I was doing fine, so I could go ahead and move to my own desk.

NSV I keep forgetting about. Andrew can actually pick me up now. Quite a ways off the floor. It probably doesn't hurt that he lifts weights, but even so, he couldn't lift me when I was 350 pounds, so I'll take the NSV. LOL. He says he can't wait until I get down to 200...cuz he'll be able to lift me off the ground.....for extended periods of time... Yes, in the dirty way...I'm horrible, I know.

Well, here's a couple of personals before I go do my laundry for the rest of the week.

Luan - That stinks about the gain...hope you are able to lose it QUICK!

Tracey - You can do it...I know you can!

Ammi - CONGRATS on that NSV! I added ya! Hopefully, I'll catch you online sometime soon!

  • good nsv Kayley lol
  • Hey Ladies - I'm better this evening. Thanks for all the well wishes. Things are moving forward with my guy...so hopefully everything will be behind us soon. Also, tonight my MIL offered to buy me a snack (junk food! she doesn't know about my anti-junk lifestyle yet) and I declined nicely - woo hoo, another victory for me!
Have a good one everybody, stay OP!

    Melissa
  • For those of you who are having the "muscle weighs more than fat" conversation, I hate to burst your bubble but you might want to check out this thread: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/show...ghlight=Muscle Dear Mel is a mod as well as a certified trainer and has lost mega amounts of weight so she knows what she's talking about.
  • Thinthinker - Thanks for posting this link...muscle and fat weigh the same...it's just that muscle takes up less ROOM than fat!
  • hey ladies... I just wanted everyone to know I'm still alive. That little summer cold I thought I had, ended up becoming asthmatic bronchitus. I've been MISERABLE! I've been taking it easy, lots of water, lots of mushy foods like jello, applesauce, soup, and so forth. I may be down another week. I haven't done any weigh ins, but with all the soup I been eating, the salt is probably making me retain alot of water, specially with all the water I have been trying to drink. I had my graduation on sunday, and it was wonderful. I just wished I didn't feel like poop

    gotta run...
  • thanks for the thoughts ladies.

Teahoney - i know how you feel *hugs*

i went back and resigned up for the gym. i had cancelled it because i had started at ballys, but when i left ballys i never went back and reactivated my 24 hour membership. i did that yesterday.

today i went to the beach for a while. i had dinner with a friend and we discussed our summer plans... 5 concerts, vegas, idaho/montana, new jobs, school... so much going on. its awesome.

Ammi - CONGRATS on your 35lb loss. i KNEW you could do it. i really need to see a dr. most of the people in my family have a thyroid problem. i have a feeling that could be part of my problem as well. not having benefits sucks.
  • Hello All,

Well my Gazelle Rider arrived today, it was easy to put together and I had a very quick go on it to feel what it's like. It was so much fun Daren convinced me to not wait til my birthday to use it, especially as he is itching to have a go on it himself lol, so I shall be having my first little work out on it this afternoon. I can't wait

Kayley - excellent NSV, just think, by the time you get married (you are getting married right?) then Andrew will be able to lift you way up high to carry you over the threshold

Thanks for adding me to your MSN, I have added you now too, so I shall keep an eye open for you.

Melissa - glad to hear that you are sounding happier today, and way to go on that NSV. Saying no to the offer of junk food isn't easy

ThinThinker - well there's my bubble well and truly burst Now I am confused again about what can cause weight gain when a person has worked out like a fiend all week. I know fluid retention comes into it, but what about when you drink more than enough, you don't feel bloated, you have exercised like a fiend, dieted like an angel and STILL see a gain. Confusing

SueMarie - so sorry that you have ended up so ill. I hope you will be feeling much better soon. Don't you have anybody that could make you some home made soup so that you know you aren't having too much salt?? Look after yourself and write again when you feel up to it.

Glad that your graduation went well, just sorry that you didn't feel well, or in your words, that you felt like 'poop'. Hope that you didn't shy away from photos and that you will post some at a later date.

Nancy - hope you are feeling ok.

Luan - that's great that you signed back up at the gym. Which equipment do you like/use the most? If I went to a gym I don't think you would get me off the eliptical machines, but for now I shall be happy having fun on my Gazelle Rider at home.

Thanks for the congrats on the 35 lbs lost. Yes you knew I could do it, now you and I are at the same weight

    Take care all,

    Hugs,

    Ammi
  • Ammi congratualations on the gazelle... let us know how you like it!
  • Patti - I will definitely let you know how I get on with the Gazelle, I can tell you one thing, I will NOT be doing what Tony Little does, not til I am about 140 lbs lighter He practically does the splits on the thing because his strides are so long

Just to let you all know, I put some photos over on the picture page, one taken at Langland Bay, the other two at the Mumbles

    Hugs,

    Ammi
  • Well I am drinking my coffee and will be getting ready shortly for the Doctor. I sure hope a diagnosis comes out of this.. 101 miles one way to this Doctor.. He better be a dandy... All else is well here,

Ammi~ I am glad you like the gazelle.. fun isnt it? .. it is a very good cardio work out.. enjoy it
  • Ammi~ I liked the pics you posted.. Very pretty
  • Ammi: It is true that when you work out, particularly if you've upped your normal amount or are just starting out that your muscles get inflamed and therefore hold the fluid and need more to flush. Drink more water. Make sure it's water or something else that is no caffeine, no calories....you know, like water! Other causes of a gain or maintain might be too much sodium. Even if you've eaten at home, did you have a packaged dinner, or canned soups or veggies? Lots of sodium in those. The key is to flush, flush, flush with water.
  • Kayley, you dirty girl!!!! But I can't wait til Steve can lift me up round his waist ...etc!!!! just like the passionate bits in films. I also thought the same as Ammi, that he'll be able to carry you over the threshold if you marry.
Ammi, your pics are lovely, you look so happy too xxxxx I wish we live near the sea.
Crock, hope the visit to the doc's is worth it and that it's nothing serious xxxxx have any of the docs said it might have been down to your weight? Has it happened since you lost the weight?
Patti, here's to the TWOS FOR YOU next weigh-in xxxx

Vilandra, glad stuff with your guy has settled down, I hope it's all resolved for good now xxxxx

SueMarie, sorry you have been ill, at least your studies are over and you can recuperate at a steady pacexxxxxx

Traceyxxxx hope you are feeling happier and able to get back OP xxxx

Well I think the carb cravings are gone at last, I had a quick look at the scales and I'm 6lbs down!!! but official weigh-in is on Sunday (6 days in) so I'll alter my ticker then, no matter how much it is. I am still down, I think I may have to get some meds for depression, I'm very snappy with the boys; I'm usually very patient; and can't get motivated to do housework. Steve's not helping as all he does is moan at me, I've done no housework or what I've done is not good enough, sometimes I think I'd be better off leaving him, but I think it's my state of mind causing my sensitivity. Oh well enough of moaning, I'm alive & pretty well, the sun's shining so I'll be grateful for that.
    xx sharon xx
