is thousand island dressing vegetarian?

  • I was checking this thousand island dressing in the grocery store from company called "walde farms" who claim that its calorie-free!

its ingredients show worcestershire sauce (which i guess is not vegetarian) ... is this true? is thousand island dressing vegetarian?

    Thanks~
  • I think there is or can be bacon in it.Why is worcestershire not vegetarian?Just curious.
  • Not technically vegetarian since most versions contain anchovies:

Worcestershire sauce is a widely used fermented liquid condiment. It is currently made with vinegar, molasses, corn syrup, water, chilli peppers, soy sauce, pepper, tamarinds, anchovies, onions, shallots, cloves and garlic.
  • be careful about that dressing tho! can be super high-cal!
  • Thanks for clarifying my suspision..I knew worcestershire sauce had anchovies.

Glassy: I was looking only at the zero calorie dressings from walden farms.
  • Thousand Island is usually loaded with sugar, is this one?
  • www.waldenfarms.com they have all dressings/syrps etc sugar free, fat free and calorie free!
  • Whether it's vegetarian or not, I can tell you it's not particularly tasty I had it one salad and threw the (expensive) bottle away--I threw away the rest of that salad after just a few bites, too It has zero fat, zero carbs, zero calories...and zero taste
  • Jilly, I had a similar reaction to the calorie free French dressing they make. The stuff was just plain gross to me. I had a serious "Ick" reaction to it.
