A cliff note about the 3 Hr. Diet!!!!

  • When you don't eat, your body goes into starvation mode.

Your body, when it's in that mode, will cannibalize your lean muscle tissue, and lean muscle is your metabolism.

the same for every meal: Protein the size of a deck of card, carbs the size of a Rubik's cube, fat the size of a water cap and fruits or veggies the size of 3 DVD cases.

So for breakfast, a ham a cheese omelet, bread and lots of fruit.

Three hours later, a Pria bar. Three hours later, lunch of a beef enchilada, rice and a salad with regular dressing. Three hours later, a snack like fruit or a few cookies. Three hours later -- dinner is salmon, rice and veggies. Three hours after that is dessert, like chocolate mousse.

"So that is the beauty of this plan, and you end the day with something sweet -- and I recommend chocolate," Cruise said.

Also in the diet -- 8 glasses of water a day. Also eating on time (every 3 hrs.)to lose weight.
  • Have you ever met an old, lazy dog? You know ... he just lays around all day. You can give him a poke once in a while and he moves. Your metabolism is kinda like that.
You can poke it with exercise or you can poke it with food. It takes calories to digest.
So the more times during the day that you give your metabolism a poke (either by eating or exercising) the better (roughly speaking).
  • i have tried having fruit as my snack but it seems just like 90 minutes later i am STARVING. now i am hypoglycemic so maybe the sugar is making too much insulin. anyone else having this problem?
ps thanks for the cliffs notes but i can't really use the visual cues. does anyone know how many cups of each item?
  • It helps to maintain a level blood sugar if you eat a nice combination of carbs and protein at each mini-meal. How about an apple and an ounce of cheese or crunchy vegetables with 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese.
  • I agree.....some protein with the snack is great for the blood sugar....thanks for the reminder Susan....

  • It's a great thread Phyllis. It's pretty important to remember healthful snacking to avoid hunger. The 3 hr diet has it right on there!
  • 50 calories for veggie/fruit
    45 calories for fat
225 calories for protein (3 oz.)
    80 calories for carbs

    Hope this helps....Phyllis
  • thanks for the info. this website has been really helpful!!! i think i'm gonna make it on this diet--well i hope so.
  • YOu can do it Apollo! I found that I had to measure everything...then I got a smaller plate - that helped greatly! I find I like the string cheese for a snack if I can keep them from my kids!
