It may be a few months before we can tackle this project, but meanwhile I'm looking for ideas. Does anyone know of any good websites that show pictures of fairly small bathrooms that are still functional and pretty? I've been looking at hgtv.com, but some of the bathrooms they show are bigger than my bathroom and kitchen put together. Help! Where can I find ideas for a nice bathroom that isn't the size of a medieval banqueting hall?

I am assuming you are in the US. Also, how small is small?

Have a look for website of vendors of plumbing products like Kolher, Hansgrohe, Blanco. They will usually show inspirational pics and then show you what products make up the room.

Alternatively, have a look for House and Garden magazine and similar types as they generally have bonus books which feature all types of bathroom makeovers.

Thanks for the links and suggestions. Small means really small, about 5' by 9'. Not a lot of room to mess around with, although we're toying with the possibility of moving one wall to make it about 8' by 9'. Still, nowhere near the size of the palatial bathroom suites I see on TV all the time.

Try Ikea....also, have you seen those very small but very deep soaking tubs with seats in them? NIIIIIIICE.....

Thanks, Leslie. I didn't even know Ikea did bathroom stuff. I saw a tub just like you described when we went to an open house today. The bathroom there was gorgeous, but it had at least twice the floor space of ours.

I'm going through the same ordeal. Here's what I have:

a MAUVE bathtub
a VIOLET toilet
MAROON carpet
HUNTER GREEN wallpaper
YELLOW painted everywhere else.

I just moved and am not sure what the previous owner was thinking with that room but I know that she never reached it LOL

I've been checking tons of books out of the library and going to lowes really inspires!! Also checking out the bathroom of friends can help too Would LOVE to see your finished product!!

Wow, Lacey, that sounds like quite the colorful bathroom. Where on earth does one find a violet toilet? I saw a really pretty bathroom with violet walls in one of those paint sample cards, but everything else in the room was cream. I'm having a hard time even picturing a bathroom like you described. Sounds like a candidate for that "bad bathroom" show on HGTV.

When you say remodeling do you mean painting and such or an actual overhaul as in new toilet, bathtub and sink? Our main bath is tiny also and to make it seem decent sized we put up glass doors over the tub. We are happy with everything else but are seriously thinking of changing the vanity to a pedastal sink to make it seem even bigger. You can also make it appear bigger by painting but be careful to choose the right color. I did a blue color with a lighthouse border and blue rugs and we like it. The blue doesn't make it look bigger but it doesn't make it look small either. A good color is a cream color or a sage green. The green really opens up a space. Off hand though I can't think of any place to visit except maybe DIY (Do It Yourself) not sure what they have on their site, haven't been there in a while. I always go to HGTV, my favorite place to go. Going to Open Houses is another good way to get ideas.

and Lacey, I agree...what the heck was that person thinking? IT sounds really gross.

Margarita, my bathroom is even smaller than yours The previous owners had covered the walls in seafoam green plastic tiles So here's what I did - First I removed all of the tiles from the walls, and I put a new white tub enclosure around the tub walls. Then I put up beaded board paneling around the rest of the walls, about 4 1/2 foot high and trimmed it out. I painted it all bright glossy white. I then painted the upper part of the walls with a color. I had painted it a soft yellow, but I'm getting ready to paint it a light blue-green now. I hung a solid white shower curtain that was simple in design - white duck cloth with nickel grommits. I replaced the vanity and sink with a new white set. I hung white plantation blinds in the window. I know that sounds like a lot of white, lol, but it really opened up the room, and the color at the top of the walls keeps it from being boring.

Suzanne...I don't think it is too much white and your bathroom sounds so pretty, crisp, clean and I am jealous...you have a window! We have one in the master bath but not the main and having a window definitely opens up a space.
