50's not nifty if you feel like 60!

  • Okay, here's the deal.

I don't mind getting older I just want to do it as gracefully as possible. I am 70 lbs over weight so I look and feel older than 50. But my mind and desires say I am 30. (if not younger) I have a great sense of humor about all of it. I am not depressed about my weight just tired of it.

The truth is I will turn 50 Oct. 24, 2007. So I would like to lose the 70 lbs before I become a half century old. Now you may think that is an easy task since I have over a year to achieve it but the problem is I haven't been able to get 20 lbs off in 3 years.

Can anyone relate? I really want to get the weight off and like I am sure everyone else here, I have tried many diets to no avail. But I have never tried a buddy system.

So if you would like a buddy and could also give me advice on how this website works. (like how do I make a profile) That would be great.

I am ready to kick some serious Krispy Creme butt.

  • Hi, What you want to do is totally doable! Yes, it takes some will power and work but it's not that hard once you make up your mind that it, and you, are worth it! I am 57 and ive lost the weight and been able to keep it off for awhile! I need help keeping the motivation to keep it off! I exercise 5 times a week. No big deal, I walk for 30 min. I also lift weights. That is a big plus! Most women have poor upper body strength. And the added muscle helps burn fat too! So.....have you really decided you want the weight off?
  • Yes I have decided. The problem in the past is my desire for sweets out weighed my desire to lose the weight. I am truly a sweetaholic!!! I bought a mag. yesterday from walmart. In it was a "test" to see if I should go on a calorie diet or a Carb diet. The carb. won. so now I am searching for a good Carb. addict diet.

I know I should exercise. But actually, I think I would prefer losing some weight first at least in the beginning. Immediate results motivate me. I sound awful!! I want to lose weight and I want to lose it now! Anyway, how long have you been working at your goal? What type of diet did you find works best for you?
  • Hi and welcome. I am 46 yrs. old and carb's were my weakness. My doctor started me on Atkins diet and it has worked well for me. A lot of people also use South Beach Diet and have great success with it. Good luck and best wishes. It has taken me almost 11 months to lose 84 lbs. I started walking 20 min's 4 times a week from the beginning. Now can walk up to 1 hour when really pushing it.
  • Oh my Gosh Lillybelle!!!
You are beautiful!! What a difference in the pictures!!! Let me ask you some website questions.

First, I managed to copy the weight tracker but I don't know how to apply it to my threads or whatever you call this.

Second, how do I reply to people. Do I continue to use this way. or do I go to there name and reply? Which is best.

Third, How do you fill out a profile. I noticed on mine there was nothing but I click on other people and it gives weight goals etc. What am I missing?

Now getting back to diets. I am 200 pounds and I would like to lose 70. So that would make my goal weight 130.

Afriend of mine wants to start dieting June 1st but I would like to get started now. I am looking at a book called "Carbohydrate Addict's diet." I am not sure if its any good but I have tried Atkins and I got severe headaches. Have you heard of it?

Thanks for the pictures. It has motivated me.
