My weigh in day...

  • So...I weigh in on Fridays...

Well everyone...it appears that my honeymoon is over. After 3 weeks in a row of loosing 4 lbs each week....

WEIGH IN DAY: -0 LBS LOST

Ok...so....honeymoon is over. Now time to get to the real work! I think this is the period most people give up on a diet...I WILL NOT FALL FOR THAT!!!! It is more important now than ever for me to be strong!!!

From now on, I will expect to see more of 1 - 2 lbs lost each week instead of 3 or 4 since I am out of that "starting new diet" faze.
  • Don't give up hope!! The healthiest loss in one week is 1-2llbs, i'd be happy if i lost a pound in a week! :-) keep up the good work!

  • Don't give up!!! When I first started I lost quickly too but of course it didn't last. However, the weight did keep coming off, just a little slower. You'll probably have weeks when you lose nothing and weeks when you'll lose 3 pounds. That's ok. Just look for that downward trend and don't try to lose too much too soon.

    You can do this!
  • A lot about weightloss and fitness is 'over time', 'cumulative', 'averaged' .... We often talk about baby steps "do what's right, right now", "make small changes", "tweak your plan" ....
But this is one time you need to step back and look at the big picture. If you have lost 12 lbs, you know that what you are doing works, right? You didn't have three good weeks and then one off one. You had a 12 lb loss averaged over 4 weeks, right?

Thanks for bringing to attention the note that all diets work initially. We dive in with vim and vigour ... and then the honeymoon period ends. But instead of letting that get us down, we should reboot with (most of) our initial vim and vigour (remember it has been working) and just keep at it.
  • You have a great attitude....want to give some to me??? Haha! I could really use some motivation. I've been at the same weight now for over 3 weeks....just can't budge...I don't know what it is. Keep going!!!
  • Thanks everyone for the encouraging words! Now that the 'honeymoon' faze is over, I think this is the time that really matters in making this a permanent habit and way of living. I have quite gotten used to counting cals, but I can't say it is habit yet. Maybe it will be in a couple more months. So far, so good though!
  • You really made me realize why I don't like to weigh. I have a tendancy to get upset if I don't loose and I am an emotional eater. So I have just put off weighing, only when I go to the Dr. I have to. My weight was 255 in Dec 2005, I went to Dr. on Feb. 26 - 230.6 and today 206. So when I do weigh, its good, hopefully!!. Thanks for your post, it made me think. Everyone has been nagging me to weigh, but I just say I'm not ready. I think everyone has given you some encourgeing words. Just keep eating healthy and the weight will come off. Good Luck!!
  • Hang in there bep. I noticed my lbs like to come off in 2's only, so even if I'm averaging a 1 lb a week loss, I won't see it til 2-3 weeks out. I found it was really helpful for me to start setting new goals for myself: deficit of x or greater, x minutes of exercise a week, x days of exercise a week, stuff like that. Gave me stuff to aim for that wasn't scale related and helped a lot, other than that I weigh all the time with no set weigh-in day so I can get an idea of the averages and not be too bothered by an up or too encouraged by a sudden drop that isn't a real loss.
