  • Hi. I'm new to the forum. I'm from Wisconsin, diabetic, and in my 50's, agewise and pounds-overweight-wise. Would like to touch base with someone in my age group (or any other age group) who is discovering how much more difficult it is for a diabetic to lose weight when you're on oral medication! (They tell you when you start on oral meds to expect a 2-8 pound weight gain--Just what you need when you're supposed to LOSE weight)!

Have enjoyed reading some comments in the forum on other subjects.

  • Hi kk! I'm new too. I'm 41 but hope that doesn't discourage you from joining me in trying to be healthy. I need a buddy too! My MIL is diabetic and has gained lots of weight after starting her various meds. I have found how hard it is to lose weight the older we get. I haven't hit menopause yet but I'm "perimenopause" which is just a polite Dr's way of saying you're getting old woman!
  • Welcome to both of you... it's great to have you here!
  • Hey
I was diagnosed as Type 2 in November 2005. Since then I have lost about 60 lbs, have quite a ways to go. Currently I am able to control my diabetes with diet and exercise, no meds yet. My doctor is hopeful if I continue to lose weight it will stay that way. Sorry I can't comment on the oral meds. Good luck...I am here for you if you need to vent or talk
