Ok. So for two weeks i have been on a low calorie diet and drinking nothing but water with meals. I exercise atleast 3-4 times a week. Mostly Cardio. The problem is that i do notice differences in how i feel and in my clothes but the STUPID SCALE has yet to move. Am i doomed to be this size forever or is this usual that you might notice the difference in clothes before the scale. Will i weigh in 3 days from now and all the missing weight be gone??!! Someone please offer advice. i havent cheated on my diet and i been eating no more that 1400/day?? Whats going on???
For me, I didn't start losing until 3 weeks in. I read somewhere that when you start a new exercise program, your body can retain extra water for up to 3 weeks, so I'm attributing it to that. Sure enough, week 3 rolled around and I dropped 7 pounds, so give it some time - your body needs to adjust to your new routine and make itself efficient with the exercise and food you're giving it.
If you're interested in seeing more results, you might try adding some weight training or resistance to your cardio to increase muscle mass...this speeds metabolism, as muscle takes a lot more calories to fuel itself than fat.
Also, if you're noticing differences in your clothes and how you feel, thats awesome! Celebrate that, and leave the scale to its own devices. If you keep going along with your routine, it'll happen.
Someone told me that your body does not reflect what you are doing until about 2 wks. after you have done it. In other words, if you start a diet, you have to wait about 2 weeks before the lost pounds even show on the scale. I don't know how true this is, but it makes sense to me!
I've heard of this quite often actually. One of my sisters has been working out 5 times a week for 1.5 months now and eating healthy. She started at 180 and still weighs 180, but has gone from a 16 to a 12. She looks so different that it is hard to believe that she hasn't technically "lost any weight".
The scale is only one of many tools. Your clothing and tape measure are others. Any improvement is improvement. Smaller is what we want to be right? Congratulations! You are on your way.
