  • I want to hear all your reasons for losing weight, from being healthy... to spite (we all know thats what pushes us some days)

    Mine:
    • Being in better shape than my mom and sisters (even though they are the best support in the world)
    • Being able to borrow clothes and shoes from my mom and sisters
    • Not being the fat friend anymore
    • Getting hit on by guys that I find attactive too
    • Not having my thighs rub together anymore
    • Being able to keep up with my son
    • Being able to participate in sports
    • TWO WORDS...CLOTHES SHOPPING
    • Going to the beach
    • Seeing my ex's
    • Having more energy
    • Living life instead of watching others live it on T.V.
    • Lingerie
    • Self esteem
    • Happier

    I'm sure I have more, I will post them later.
  • I want to be able to keep up with my kids and be around for grandkids.
  • *Being healthy-with diabetes and high blood pressure running in my family...I've made this my top priority!!
    *Going into any store and knowing I will walk out with something.
    *Being smaller than my cousins, who for all my life have been smaller than me.
    *Being a good example for my sister, who needs to drop a couple of pounds.
    *Wearing a bathing suit to the beach or swimming pool.
    *Going out with my boyfriend and not feeling so self-concious.
    *Not caring if my boyfriend stares at another girl because, heck, I know I look good.
    *Cute clothes on clearance.

    And the biggest reason...I just want to be love how I look!!
  • I have a ton of these.

    On the more superficial (but honestly, more motivating) side - looking fabulous in upcoming wedding photos, and not making an idiot of myself on a rafting trip with some coworkers this July. And clothes shopping. And make more money (its true - they've shown overweight people make less over a lifetime than thinner people). Get gorgeous looking back and shoulders.

    On the health-related side - getting smaller before having kids will allow me to keep up with them better, reducing diabetes risk, improving cardio function, and building muscle so I can be strong. Reducing health risks in general. Not turning into my dad (who is a great person, but overweight, a compulsive eater, etc). Getting control of these issues now, when my life is relatively tame, so I don't have to control them once I have kids and have other people depending on me. Control anxiety disorder with exercise, rather than medication, if possible.
  • I will be visiting my family for the first time in 3 years and want to surprise them all. No one knows I am losing weight. I also want to lose because I will be around my DH ex and do not want her to think he married a loser. (I know not good right) I want to look good in a bathing suite and have all of my DH friends say wow you wife is very pretty . I want to go and buy cute cloths that look great on me.

  • I have the same reasons as all of you: being healthy, feeling good, looking good, buying CHEAP clothes, shopping everywhere, etc, etc, etc.

    This for me was never a reason but it is now:

    My little sister is only 10 and she is a big solid girl. I found pics of me when I was 10 and she even looks bigger then I did then. I tried to talk to her and tell her to watch what she eats but she says she doesn't care that she is bigger then all the other girls. I know want her to grow up and feel like I did. Generally I was always happy but deep down I always wished I was skinny. I just want her to be happy and wish she would lose weight with me so we can get new clothes together. But I know she is only 10 and she doesn't see it that way yet. Hopefully one day

    I know you shouldn't lose weight for someone else and I am not, but I think that is the an awesome reason!

    buying those cute clothes that I've never fit into
  • My number one reason to lose weight was due to very poor health. Now that my health is improved considerably, I just want to look good. I want to feel like going places instead of watching TV all the time. I want to live long enough to raise my kids and see my grandkids grow up. I feel like that after losing this weight, I am finally starting to LIVE. I enjoy getting dressed now and going places is fun, not stressful anymore. I like the way my DH looks at me and compliments me .(He had never said anything about my weight before, but I can tell he really loves how I look now). Even the smiles, nods and waves from other men are nice, it just feels good to be noticed.
  • My mother has diabetes which came on later in her life. Now that I'm getting older also, I want to be healthy and give myself a better change of beating the diabetes.

    In 3 years from now my youngest son will be graduating from high school (he live with his father in Maryland) and I want to look FANTASTIC when I go out there to see all of the "ex"'s family and have my son be proud of me as I am of him.

    I want to be the woman on the arm of my DH that gets looks from other guys as we walk by.

    I want to be able to buy clothing I like in any store I walk into.

    I want to be able to walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded.

    Most important, I want to be happy with my body's image and health.

    -Getting ATTENTION like my friends get all the time...
    -***BiKiNi***, I want to get in a bikini and be comfortable showing my body in it...
    -To be able to get hot guys that I can only have crushes on...Instead of saying he's too good for me, I want to say "I'm too good for him"...
    -To be comfortable with my body...
    -To have self-confidence that I never had before (it's building up)
    - And lastly to be happy...

  • All of the above. But most of all I want my husband to look at me like Im the hottest girl in the room. He always tells me Im hot but I want to feel it.
  • 1) Just overall health. Before I got out of breath walking up a SINGLE flight of stairs.
    2) Being fit for the "extreme" sports we do. Jetskiing, dirbikes, snowmobiles, etc.
    3) Afraid of developing diabetes at all, let alone at a young age.
    4) Emotional/Mentally. I was miserable all the time because I hated myself. I felt fat and lazy, like I was a horrible person.
    5) All the "extreme" sports wives are gorgeous. I don't want to be fat one.
    6) I live in San Diego. On the beach. 'Nuff said.
    7) I'm almost 21. I want to go to clubs and bars and not feel like people are thinking "why is she here?"
    8) Cute clothes
    9) I've always been overweight so I want to go to my high school reunion skiiiiiinny!
    10) Confidence. For everything. Walking with my head up, job interviews, making friends. Everything.

    Hmm, I could keep going but I think that's enough
