Life

  • Life is what we make of it. I have come to realize that each and every day is a new beginning but most important is the fact that how we think and what we think is the biggest factor. Attitude is often all about our thoughts. We can change our attitudes easy enough with just a bit of effort on our part by changing our thoughts. Stinkin thinkin is a terrible thing. We so often tell ourselves so many negative things in a days times that we do not even now where to begin at changing it. I am here to tell us all that it is not easy but very well worth it to change what we think and how we think. Start with recognizing that you are doing it. Then work on one negative thought at a time, replace each one with just one positive true belief that relates to that thought. For example; My legs are so fat ( they are ) but guess what they are also very strong legs something I have always liked about my legs. So I will replace that thought and no longer fret about my legs being fat but enjoy the knowledge that they are strong. I also have learned that one can not ignore basic truths. My leg size does bother me so rather than complain and dismiss this or beat myself up for it, I will make an effort to make them smaller and healthier. I want to make positive changes and efforts toward loving my whole self rather than simply complaining and hating who I am or what I look like. I am going to journal all negative thoughts for the next month and then I will have a better idea of exactly what it is I am telling myself. Then I will work on how to not only change my thought patterns but how to change the actual thing that is bothering me in a positive loving way. We all have days where we feel really good about ourselves and days where we feel really awful about ourselves. I would love to be able to take the month of May and challenge everyone who needs to, to make the good days completely out number the bad days by changing our stinkin thinkin. Often when the world has fallen apart around us all we have is ourselves to get through it, when we think poorly of ourselves we really don't even have that. Perhaps this can help us see our way clearly through it by allowing us to have the confidence and self esteem to love ourselves no matter what is happening around us. We may be able to truly call ourselves our own best friend. Join me?
  • Count me in. I have the tendancy to always blame myself for everything that goes wrong around me. I often think oh my, they are going to think I'm so fat. They'll think... But you know what, it may be true, but more often then not, I'm the one who is judging myself. I'm the worst person when it comes to judging me.

I want to change that as well. I don't want to think that way anymore. I may not be perfect, I may not be the most beautiful woman, or the best mother, but you know what, I'm me and I'm probably not as bad as I think. It's time to change my thinking.

I'm with you. I will journal all my negative thoughts about myself and come up with one reason that is positive about the same thought!
  • You got it girl! This is the only body we are going to get here on Earth, so we might as well make the most of it.
  • Caught myself looking at a night shirt that I like to wear. It was actually tight when I bought it but fits much better now, and yet I some how managed to look at it and wonder how it could possibly fit me considering how fat I am. I even realized that although I like to wear it I do not do so very often, I do believe I think it is too good for me. So I am going to wear this night shirt once a week for the next several weeks and remind myself that it fits better than when I first bought it so I am doing something right.
  • Very insightful!! Thanks for posting!

I love your thought provoking posts. I've been doing positive self talk for a few weeks now. It really does work. I think it's helped me a lot in seeing myself and motivating me to get healthier.
