l wanna lose 30 pounds! gettin ready for pregnancy

  • My Husband and I are thinking about-thinking about another baby.

I was 131lb before I had my daughter in 2003. Due to the 70LBs I gained, my blood pressure got high, and I had to stay on bed rest for the last two weeks. The worst part was; when my baby was born it was so hard to change her diaper, and give her a bath. Mostly because my upper back would go numb. I assume it was due to the bed rest, and the hospital stay (had a suprise C-section , she was breech) I guess, I just lost my upper body strengh. It took 5 years for me to get pregnant. When I finally did, all my dreams came true, but it was so hard to do the things I dreamed about (taking care of my baby).

I am so afraid of that happening again. I felt like a different person when I was pregnant. I was revenously hungery all the time, but healthy food made me green. The trouble I had was all because of the weight gain

I still have almost 30lbs of my last pregnancy weight to lose, so I wanna lose that first. Then maybe I can just be careful not to gain more then the recommended weight. The hard part is that I have been tring to lose this weight for 2 years, and all I’ve done is maintain. I figure I’ll set a dead line. I’d like to lose the weight by september.

Next time around, I want to be able to enjoy my newborn without such a struggle
  • Congrats on thinking about another baby!! Do you mean 2000 oz. of water by 6/1? Because that would be a lot to drink in one day!! Anyway, your goals sound realistic. Have you decided on a diet plan, or are you just concentrating on the exercise?
  • Yes, 2000 oz of water. That's what it says on my screen, does it say something different on your's?

My diet plan is based on calories. I must burn 1500 calories to lose 1 lb a week, I'm going for 2. So, I am trying to eat 1500 calories a day, and burn 500 with activity. I started this (seriously) Monday. Everyday, I get closer to 1500 cal a day. I'm using fitday, and it helps sooo much.

I'm not only cutting calories, but I also try to only eat whole grain, and No fried food. High protein, and moderate carbs. I feel for the first time in a long time that I am on the right track again. (I used to fallow a bodybuilding routine for eating as well as my work out.)

Now my goals are different, as well as my routine. I feel like I'm training for a big event, like a marathon. I guess I am in a way.
  • You absolutely are training for a "BIG EVENT"!!

My screen says the same as yours...I was just being silly!
  • Hey there~ I too am losing for another baby, but my first is only 10.5months old. We want to have one so they are 2 years apart but I am still 24lbs above my last pre-preg weight. I'd like to lose 34lbs before I start trying as I was overweight to begin with, but I don't want to wait too long. I had a really good preg last time, no issues at all, but I think I might have been lucky!

I am on WW, first week back, having just weaned my bambina from the boob, so hopefully it'll work out!
  • I tried to breast feed to. It was hard enough with the c-section, but she was tounge tied (the skin under her tongue was all the wayt to the tip) and she couldn't latch. She nursed for 1 month, and I pumped till she was 3m. I tried everything, even got her tounge clipped. After I finally gave in, we were much happier. If my next one latches with no problem, Ill go with it, but if we have any problems like the last time, I will just use formula.

I hating sound like doom and gloom. I love motherhood, and I had a picture perfect prenancy till the end when my weight exploded :-P
  • Belle, there's no reason your 2nd PG shouldn't be awesome too! Both my pregnancies were great! I'd carry and give birth to 10 kids...just don't want to raise 10!!

I also had latching problems with both boys, but we stuck it out as long as we could...12.5 months with DS1 and 5.5 months with DS2.
  • I wanted so so badly to succeed at breastfeeding, but I have to say, giving up was the best decision I ever made. I felt like such a failure thought. I compensated (in my mind anyway) by early potty training. She stopped doing #2 in her diaper by 12m and she could tell me when she had to pee by 16m.
