Do you love shopping for clothes since you have lost your weight? I use to hate shopping for clothes because only 2 stores in my area had clothes big enough for me. One was very expensive and both of them had old lady ugly ugly clothes.

Since I have lost my weight I have slowly been rebuilding my wardrobe. I have had to buy new everything, even had to buy smaller shoes. It is so wonderful to be able to go into any store and the clothes fit I just love shopping now and knowing that I will be able to find something on the clothes racks that fits me. I have not worn a skirt or dress in years. I recently bought a few spring dresses. I just love it

Im not at my goal yet but I do love shopping and have had to buy so many new clothes as I work my way down the sizes. A few weeks ago I bought my first pair of size 10 jeans, wow, I havent been in size 10 for probably 20 years. Its amazing that as you get closer to your goal weight even a 2lb loss is so noticable. Its costing a fortune. ( not that Im complaining)

Oh Keya - clothes are my weakness! It's SO much fun to shop now! How amazing to go from nothing fitting because I'm too big to ... not being able to find my size because I'm too small. Sometimes I have to resort to stripping manniquins to find 4's. Ever notice that stores don't seem to get a lot of small sizes? The racks are bulging with L's and XL's but it's tough to find 4's and 6's. Or maybe it's just a Pittsburgh thing?

I had to buy everything new too - and yep, my feet got smaller. The only things that I have from 120 pounds ago are socks and an old fleece bathrobe that I can't bear to part with, so I just wrap it around me a few times.

Shallow and vain though it may be, clothes are one of the things that keep me on the straight and narrow. I love my new wardrobe and refuse to get too big to wear it. Since 5 pounds is easily a size at this point, I'm forced to keep my weight in check (or I won't have anything to wear!)

haha. I remember when I got close to goal and, even though I was flat broke, I could wander around the mall for HOURS just trying stuff on in the stores I had never even set foot in before. Bathing suit shopping never got an easier, though. :/

Some days I love shopping for clothes. But oddly, sometimes I hate it. When I was larger, I just had one or two choices for something like jeans, order it from the catalog and boom there it was. Now it can take weeks to pick the right pair. A thousand stores, a thousand styles, a thousand prices.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention, I still make it a point to try to shop first from the stores/catalogs that carry the larger sizes along with the "normal" sizes. It was SO hard to find clothes when I was big, and I appreciated the choices I did have then. I kind of feel that I want to support them in providing all women decent clothes. Since I also need long/tall pants, I was doubly cursed then. I see it as a social goodness when companies recognize that women are individuals and don't all come in one cookie-cutter range of limited sizes. Then if I can't find what I'm lookng for, I'll go elsewhere.

Meg, finding clothes small enough is *NEVER* a problem I thought I would ever have, but I am starting to notice it. In most styles I'm a six and can usually find that, but in skirts I often take a 4 and those can be hard to find. Complete craziness I tell you

I too think that my nice new wardrobe is a great motivator for continued maintenance.

Clothes are my ultimate weakness - they make me feel so good when I feel great and can make me feel so bad if I gain a few pounds, though - the double edge sword!

I've been feeling really fit and trim this spring and I'm sporting loads of cute new things to show it off - love all the white out there this year. And then the cute shoes and sandals to match. Ahhhhhhhh - such fun. :-)

I find there tends to be the 2's left on the rack then a ton of larger stuff - I have a hard time finding the ones I need in the middle sometimes, but then I suppose we all notice when our size is missing.

Ginny, I get most of my pants from Land's End. They will hem to your specifications. That is really handy for me, since I'm 5'7", with long legs but a standard rise. There are a lot of options: misses, womens, petites, talls, and at least a couple of different cuts, one that fits pear shapes pretty well, and the other apples. These days I can try on the misses sizes at Sears to make sure it fits and there is nothing funky about the waist. Then I just order the correct length.

I have 9 lbs. to go before I hit maintenance and I am loving shopping. I hated to shop when I was heavier and settled for whatever I could fit into. Now I am size 4 in jeans and wear a 12 in shirts. Have DD's so don't expect this to change much. It's strange how when I was only 19 lbs. heavier , I was a size 8 in jeans. I am constantly buying new clothes now and have found a new love for fixing my hair and wearing make-up. This is new to me, but I figure after all this work, I may as well spruce up and look my best. I love all the new clothes and could spend tons of time at the mall, as well as money. lol

Hi Lily! Isn't it amazing how close sizes are together when you get into the lower numbers?? It took me about 30 pounds to go down a size when I first started -- and now it seems like just a few pounds makes a huge difference in how pants fit. As long as I stay out of elastic waist pants, I guess I'll always have a reality check!

I have always loved clothes shopping, but when I started being too big for 14's it certainly lost some of it's appeal! Nowadays I love it again. While I was losing I always had an excuse to buy clothes ("these don't fit anymore!") but now I don't have an excuse anymore.

I have a lot less trouble finding my size now that I am a 6/8. And since I still shop at the same stores as I did when I was bigger, they are the stores that tend to run large, so I get to buy 6's more often! However, I have run into the same problem I had when I was about 14 . . . My boobs are way too big for the rest of my body, so buying dresses is a royal pain. Either it fits on top and is a huge tent on the rest of me (and with the back hanging off), or it fits great but I can't zip it up past halfway.

I've spent a little time swimsuit shopping because I really want to wear a bikini (though it depends on the style, I still look fat in some of them), but seriously, I don't know if they make bikini tops in my size (34DD) that you can try on, and I'm afraid to order from a catalog!

I love shopping now, I always used to hate it and it's growing on me fast. When I first hit about 50lb or so gone I went a bit mad with shopping and bought far too many clothes that I've barely worn, now I'm loving the fact that I can try something on and not buy it because even though it looks nice I know that I can find other clothes that look equally nice and probably stuff that looks better - so I keep on scouring the shops for something that's perfect rather than just something that fits! There are just too many shops though, far too much choice!

Yep, I've gotten a whole lot fussier about what I buy now too. Just like you, I overbought at first because everything was just so cute. Now I tell myself I have to love, love, LOVE something in order to buy it! But isn't it great to be able to be so picky and not have to settle for 'the only pair of black pants that fit'?
