When did you notice?

  • So, it's bugging me... because I still find it surreal that I actually have lost any weight! I know a couple pairs of pants... you know the ones that always stretch out so much through the day... are looser... but I don't see much of a difference in my clothes... I probably shouldn't yet anyways. I am scared that I am "imagining" this weight loss. Does anyone else feel this way?

If there is anyone that was around 100 pounds overweight... when did you begin to notice the weight loss...? When did others???

My sister in law said she can tell in my face, that it has more definition. I said she has got to be kidding me... and she said, nope she's not. I find it hard to believe, but who knows!
  • Ummm, I would have to say my pants too. One minute, they are snug, the next, I'm flashing people! LOL Just last week, my mother brought me some new jeans in my size but I kept having to hike them up. and my mama says she can tell a difference in my face and neck. I don't see it though. *shrugs*
  • I probably starting noticing and receiving complements when I lost about 30lbs. Don't let this discourage you, stay focused on your goal, stick to your plan and you'll get there
  • I first started to notice and other people did when I was at like 20 pounds lost.
  • People started commenting for me around 30 pounds lost. Those close to me didn't really notice, and I didn't see it myself... but other friends/family members who hadn't seen me in a while definitely saw it. It's one of those things where you need to realize you and those really close to you see you every day. The changes aren't as obvious when you see yourself every day.

One thing that worked great for me was looking at photos! Then I started actually taking progress photos. The changes are VERY noticable when looking at photos!
  • Thanks for all your honest replies!! I do take photos... and measurements!! I have lost 6 inches on my waist already! But I don't wear pants on my waist, but lower near my hips... and my hips are moving slower...

    I will keep plugging away!
  • Other people started noticing on my around 25-30 pounds. Even though I'm at 50+ pounds down, I still have a hard time seeing it in myself. I second the person who said progress pictures are the way to go. I happened to come across a photo taken of me the week before I started this and comparing it to a recent photo, I could definitely see a difference. Still a long way to go, but that was very motivating!
  • I think it was about 30 lbs. for me, too. Like Amanda, I started taking photos, and noticed a huge difference in my face. I think after I'd lost about 50-60 lbs., I discovered, through photos, that I'd lost the two extra chins I'd been carrying around!
  • For me, I lose first in my face so people started commenting right away that they could see it in my face and neck. I however didn't see it myself until I had a new ID picture taken and compared it to my DL picture. IT was a complete shock. I still don't really feel a difference in my clothing for the most part but there are a few pairs of pants that are looser, even if I haven't gone down a size yet. I go dancing ever two weeks or so and wear the same jeans each time. The last time I put them on I noticed they weren't as tight. THAT was nice too. The pictures thing is a great idea. I'm keeping a scrapbook myself that i hope will show (and it already is somewhat) my process.
  • Chrissy, I have started a scrapbook for my weight loss too!! I was sort of doing a book of me... but I shifted gears for awhile to scrapbook the weight loss!! It's been fun so far!
  • wow. i'm scrapbooking too! it's going to be so much fun to look at it when it's complete. people really started noticing for me around 20 pounds. i'm not sure i see it as much, but the compliments are starting to come in. i was able to buy pants in the next size down, and they're still snugger than i'd like, but soon enough i'll be able to strut around in them. yay!
  • I've lost 20 pounds now, and I'm getting compliments right and left
I can also tell by looking at photos too.

The last time I lost a lot of weight, I had trouble noticing. I had lost probably 30 pounds and was very close to my goal weight. I was getting compliments but aside from going down a few sizes, I didn't really see it.

But, like everyone else said: photos are the way to go
  • People really started noticing for me around 25lbs, but I didn't so much except my clothes. Then one day I walked past a mirror and had to back up, I totally saw it in my profile, it was crazy.
