  • Okay, we all know what we want to achieve by losing weight - better health, longevity, better self-esteem, smaller jeans... but what about all the little things we didn't think about?
I came home from a nasty calculus exam this afternoon and relaxed in a hot bath with the new Vanity Fair (I'm completely addicted to that magazine!), and was wondering why I never used to take many baths - I love them, and we have a lovely deep bath tub, but until the last month or so I very, very rarely took baths. I realized it's because I simply hated seeing myself naked, and really, what else is there to look at when you're lying in the bath tub?!?! That, and my boyfriend would always poke his head in to say hello or bring me tea or something, and I just didn't want him to see me in all my white, pasty, lumpy glory! Now that I feel more comfortable with myself and have shed a few pounds, I've been taking baths all the time, and am MUCH more relaxed!

So... anyone else out there with some odd and completely unexpected benefit?
  • That is great! Now, off to the tub with you!
  • hehe.. My unexpected benefit was that I have alot more endurance in the bedroom Much better.

    LOL - i hear ya - that's a GREAT benefit!
  • I take baths almost every night now, instead of showers. Before, I couldn't stand to see myself naked. Last night I even gave myself a little bikini shave, that I haven't done in forever. I actually put on a swim suit and layed out in the sun today, that wouldn't have happened before. I want a tan so I can go to the lake and pool this summer and not have to just wear shorts and t-shirt over my white fatness.

Now that is what I call a benefit!
  • My digestion is healthier now that I'm eating more fruits and veggies.

HAHA! I know right! Its gotta be the extra testostrone (sp?) from working out. I swear it.
  • Forget not wanting to see myself naked...I could even FIT comfortably in the bath tub before!! And I LOVE baths but there was just no point before.
Now, I'm in heaven!! My DH even gets in with me sometimes!!

And YES YES YES, sex has become SOOOOO much better!! Certain areas aren't so "hidden" anymore!!!
  • I'll give a vote for baths and the bedroom dept too! Another thing that I love is being able to cross my legs. I don't think I ever sit now without them crossed unless I'm driving.
  • I so understand that - I used to cut off the circulation in my legs trying to cross them - my foot always feel asleep and it really hurt! Now it's actually comfortable, and i don't feel like I have to sit like a guy!
  • ditto! I always sit with my legs crossed now. Its like a force of habit. I even sit like that when i am riding in the car. I remember when I couldnt cross my legs at all.. then it got easier.. and now.. I can totally do it.. without a thought, AND it LOOKS RIGHT!
  • I'll ditto the nicer sex....

But I'll also add that my skin has cleared up nicely, except for TOM. Also, I used to have these... spots? on my lower legs. Like freckles, but like huge masses of freckles on my feet, ankles, and calves - for any Star Trek fans, I used to call myself an upside-down Trill, that's just what the spots looked like, but not on my face. I think it was due to poor circulation or maybe out of whack blood sugar. Anyway, in the past month or so they have faded out and are almost completely gone - just a few pale spots left here and there on my feet. It's much nicer to wear shorts now, I don't feel as if I have a large birthmark or strange skin disease on my legs.

  • so far the best things i've gotten out of my weight loss is much more self confidence and a guy i am sort of seeing called me sexy yesterday. i haven't heard sexy in quite some time. so that was a BIG BIG benefit. i definately act more sexy now than i did before. and i hope that it continues as i lose more weight.
  • Yes!! Being able to cross my legs is fantastic!! I used to hate being limited to what I could do with my legs when I sit. Yes, it was horrible having to sit like a man!
