? about refried beans

How do you determine if canned refried beans are okay to use in recipes like the taco bake in phase 1. What amount of sugar can be considered an acceptable amount. The can I have has it listed as about the 7th ingredient.

  • I buy fat free refried beans, but I don't recall ever seeing added sugar in refried beans. I just always buy the fat free because the regular ones are made with lard.
  • Thanks,

I guess I'll use this can and hope it does alright. Check others closer.
  • IF on phase one look 3 or less grams of sugar per serving...

When you shop, you might like the El Paso Fat Freeree refried beans...no added sugar and they are tasty.
  • or if you don't mind, you can make your own using black beans (or any bean allowed).
not exactly refried beans but it's (i think) tastier.
i just take a can of black beans and the back of a spoon and mash until i get the desired consisntency i want.

    gl either way ^.^
  • The other day I saw FF refried black beans at the store... I should have picked up a can. I guess next time I go I'll have to grab one!
