Why?3 lb gain???????

  • Good Afternoon:
I am new here, I have been reading everyone's post and it has been really encourging. I felt I had been doing great on my diet. I stopped eating fast food I have been eating a light lunch, dinner etc. and fruit at night. I lost 10 pounds in the first two weeks. I am at the end of week 3 just weighed myself and I gained 3lbs. I don't know why. I am doing everything I can, trying to make it a life style change and not a diet. I am really discouraged.

  • A few of those 10lbs was probably due to losing water weight-not fat.

You should also take your measurements because that is a more accurate gauge of how you are doing.

There is no reason to be discouraged. You are doing fine.
  • Kat, welcome.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? How much do you have to lose? Are you counting calories?
Cheeseburger is right... some of that weight may have been water, and 5 pounds a week is actually a little fast to be losing. Don't get discouraged... we'll help any way we can.
  • Also, you mentioned your eating changes, but are you exercising as well? That could be some important info for our Brilliant Givers of Advice! (I'm not being sarcastic, I swear! I love you guys and you do give great advice...)

    LALA!!!!
  • Take a step back Kat. I see that you've lost 7 pounds in 3 weeks! That's good. Fast even.
  • That evil scale. It can really be misleading. Your body has cycles throughout the month that affect your weight--and you can't control that. Have you thought about putting the scale away, and only getting it out once a month? That way you avoid the wierd water retention days and really see a change in lbs. I find it much more satisfying. Plus you won't sabotage yourself by getting down about 3 lbs that most likely aren't fat at all. :-)
Keep up your plan! You are doing great!
