New here!

  • My name is Rebecca, and I am 25. I would like to lose 70lbs by June 2007, I know that is doable. Right now I am looking for diet plans that would work best for me, actually I know the only way I will lose weight is to start eating better, and less and exercise more.

I would love to hear what you ladies have done to lose weight!

I can't wait to get to know everyone!
  • Welcome Rebecca!

Feel free to join in on our monthly challenges, they really help motivate you to eat well and do exercise.

I usually work out 5 days a week, and i use portion control as my "diet."
I've had much success with getting rid of those last pesky pounds doing this.

As for my exercise... i usually do 2 miles of cardio, then 60 minutes of strength training, then finish it off with another 2 miles.
  • Welcome Rebecca! Good luck with your weightloss! Your gonna love it here.. theres so many great ladies! Im on a low calorie diet and exercising alot. Its workin great for me!
  • Welcome Rebecca!

I am a calorie counter to the core. To me it's simple math calories out minus calories in. It allowed me to lose a little over 50lb, since then I have fallen off the wagon for a few months but I am back on and it is working again.

I eat 5 small meals a day. I do not eat white bread, rice or sugar. I am a true carb-o-holic! If I taste a little, I'll eat the whole plate. I eat alot of veggies, I am finally up to "5 a day". It took over 6 months to change my eating habits, but it has been worth it.

I work out 6 days a week for between 45 minutes and 90 minutes. I go to the gym, run and do excersise tapes to get a good mix. I take the stairs on days I don't have alot to carry at my highrise and at work so that helps too.

There are a ton of great ladies on this site and they all have great ideas about making life changes and keeping the weight off. Take care sweetie!
  • Welcome Rebecca!

What kind of personality do you have? Do you like to have a lot of boundries, or do you rebel against that? Do you like a ton of options or do you like to be limited? Do you like to count and measure and record or are you more comfortable eyeballing and estimating?

All of these things will pretty much tell you what kind of plan you need to be on. If you are the kind that tends to hate being restricting a lot there are some plans that would end up setting you back. If you like to have a ton of boundries that there are yet other plans that just wouldn't fit you.

I personally like to calorie count. That's my thing, and I have tried a bunch of different plans.

Workout wise, it just comes down to just start doing something. I do a lot of different things to keep it interesting. It's always a good idea to include cardio and strength training!!!

Anyway, welcome and GOOD LUCK! I look forward to getting to know you.
  • Hi ladybug, welcome to the forum. I try to work out 6 times a week in smaller bouts. I do 3 strength sessions, 3 cardio sessions and try to fit yoga in wherever I can. I try to watch my calories and my portions but have not been very strict on myself about that. I am more focused on exercise than anything.
  • Welcome Rebecca

i would say that your goal is very achieveable and you have set a great timeline to achieve it. very realistic, which is a good first step.

i really have only started recently and only this month have i begun exercising regularly. i have set goals for the month for exercise, but at the end of the day the aim is really just trying to move every day with whatever activity i feel like. i have to say that although i haven't had any weight loss since the start of the month, i have more energy already.

food wise i am watching calories and eating low fat. still needs a bit of work. i just got a program from calorie king that should help me monitor it a bit better.

    best of luck
  • Hi and welcome! I have been at my new lifestyle for a month and have dropped 8 lbs. I am eating a balanced diet (approx. 40/30/30), 5-6 meals per day, lean proteins, good carbs and veggies. Drinking lots of water. Exercising 5-6 days per week, both strength (I go to Curves) and cardio (Turbo Jam and walking). Good luck!
