checking back in :)

  • I haven't checked in for awhile! I have had some goings ons so I will update.
I had some 'female' problems and ended up going back and for to the drs. I thought I was pregnant for a minute. I ended up getting a diagnosis for PCOS (polycystic ovaries). I've thought I had it for a few years but some dr's don't know what it is. The dr I went to said it right away and so it explains alot. Did an ultrasound and with a couple of observations diagnosed it. I recall someone here has it too.

I am switching up 'diet' plans and I'm doing glycemic index now.

The good news I have gained only 2 lbs since I quit WW. One of the best things for PCOS is exercise- not cardio but resistance which I LOVE. Losing weight is supposed to help a lot- but losing weight is harder with PCOS. Anyway my point is that I think now since I know some of the struggle is chemistry it'll be easier to stay focused. I say so now but it just seems like since it makes sense it will be easier to focus.

My dh is going back for his sleep apnea check and I hope he gets a cpap. He isn't over weight just has it and restless leg syndrome. Maybe he will start having more energy so that we can all go on bike rides again!

My youngest isn't going to have surgery for his cleft palate until september now and even then there is a chance the dr will say he doesn't need it. And my oldest is getting braces started this week.

So that is everything. I have been in training at work for a couple months and would read often but never had a chance to post. Here it is 301 a.m. on saturday night. I took a nap with the baby and now I can't sleep

Well Everyone looks great and I hope you remember me!
  • Welcome back Liz. I am glad they finally diagnosed your condition. I have found with much medical stuff that often not knowing is the worst part. Post often. Maybe we will see you in the points challenge.

  • Hi Liz,

Nice to have you back! Sorry you've had health worries - I expect it helps a little to have a diagnosis!

Well done for basically maintaining your weight - it's soooooooo easy to gain it all back and more, so you've done well to keep it stable. Your new plan sounds great - strength training increases your metabolism and should really help you lose weight, as well as completely define your body shape.

    Good Luck!

    Love Amanda x
  • Thanks guys! I think things will be slowing down a little and I'll be able to concentrate on general healthiness now.
I am going to start back to the gym this week and hopefully see a change.
  • Liz, good to see you posting again!
  • Hi Liz, good to see you around again!

  • Liz, good to hear from you and glad to hear the doc was able to give you some answers.
  • Welcome back Liz! Sounds like you've been a pretty busy person.

I too have been diagnosed with PCOS. I started having most of the signs & symptoms when I was aabout 16 (facial hair, no periods, etc.) and was officially diagnosed when I was about 30 after years of infertility.

Hope all goes well with you!
