Have you heard of this? It is so much fun!! I did it this morning and boy am I tired.

This is something that is done literally all over the world. People have hidden little storage containers (usually a coffee tin) in, remote hiking areas. Inside is a notebook, where you write your name and date that you have found it and you put in a small trinket and take one. To find out the locations you simply go to the website and it gives you the gps location and off you go. It was a two hour hike from my home so my daughter, bonus-daugther and I went off to find it. It was a great way to get exercise and have fun as a family! The girls loved it. I highly recommend it.

I'm not sure if there is an actual organization around here. There may be in other areas. We are quite rural and anybody can do it here. We are going to look for one that is even more remote on Easter weekend. I can't wait. I hope it doesn't rain.

DH and I have been doing this for years! It is so addicting! Everywhere we go on vacation, we try to find at least one. We've even found one in Aruba!

firechick139, I can see how this could be addictive! I think we are going to do it when we go on vacation too. Last year we drove to Ontario and thought about doing it on that trip but we were only on a short trip so we didn't end up doing it, but I think we will be making time for it from now on. Wow, they are even in Aruba!!!

Hubby and I discovered this last year after father-in-law gave us a used GPS.
Can't wait to start up again, now that the weather is getting warmer. I get bored really easily, and have a hard time pushing myself when exercising, but with geocaching I find that I'm willing to push a lot further, because of the excitement of the hunt.

Reading the logs and exchanging the little trophies keep the game exciting, and I love that the geocaching.com website rates the difficulty and terrain of the cache, as I am extremely out of shape (though I think I've made some progress since last year).

I try to make exercise seem not like exercise. It is a lot easier to get motivated for fun, rather than just a plain old work out and I think geocaching is a great way to do that! I'm like you Colleen; I can't wait to get out there and do it again.

Yes, they have geocaches all over the world. Even in Iraq! If you go to their website: www.geocaching.com you can see what different countries they are located in. There are countries that I never even heard of!

I like the travel bugs that you find in some of the caches. They are little trinkets or keychains that you register with the website. They will send you a travel bug keychain to attach to your trinket with a serial number on it. Then you can track where it goes when other geocachers pick it up and put it in different caches by entering the serial number on the website. There are ones on the website that have traveled thousands of miles!

I think this is a great way of exercising. The only thing is, you need to have a GPS (global positioning system that tells latitude and longitude) to play.

Yes, firechick, I need to get a gps, it is not to hard to find the places that are local but I definitely need one to go to further places. I think I will look on ebay! I'm am so excited about getting into this. This is why I want to lose weight, so I can have fun and do all these sort of activites.

I love geocaching. We started about three years ago. We have about 4 of our own out there and we have 4 travelbugs. One of mine has made it clear from Idaho to Sweden. My husband has a travelbug in Hawaii. Very good way to exercise and get fresh air.
