What are you reading this week? Any good ones or suggestions? Fiction, non-fiction, whatever! Not necessarily diet or eating related -- although I'm sure that many of us read those, too...

In the past couple of weeks I have finished three:
-Forever Odd by Dean Koontz. It's a sequel to another book apparently (which I haven't looked up the title to yet) but was fine to read without having known about the first one. It was good, and kept me up quite late the last night needing to finish it. Not scary or too creepy, just... well, odd...

-Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynn Truss. An easy read, I finished it in just a couple of days. All of our board's grammar/punctuation mavens will love it, you all know who you are! (Me too...) Even if you don't care much about the subject it was soooooo funny.

-Last night I just finished a new Star Wars novel. Yes, I am a geek. It was Star Wars: Outbound Flight by Timothy Zahn. This will obviously appeal to a limited audience here, but if you're a fan and have read the Expanded Universe stuff, this is great. Lots of background on Thrawn, which was fascinating.

I love reading,,,and have a few favorite authors. Of course with my work I have to read alot of boring work related stuff so at home I read good ol fiction.

Susan Elisabeth Phillips is awesome, have been on a waiting list at the library for over 3 months.
Janet Evanovich, hilarous, and have waken my husband up (poor guy) to read part of the book.
S.M Stirling, wrote a book called Dies the Fire, had nightmares, great read but seriously I must be a wimp.

right now I am reading An Ex to Grind, kinda funny,,,just in the first 2 chapters right now.

I used to read Star Wars books too! I used to read the X Wing Rogue Squadron series when I was in high school. I read some of the Star Trek (Next Generation) books too. So I guess I'm a geek too.

My latest discovery is Diana Gabaldon. I read the first of a 6 book series, "Outlander." It's a science fiction time travel novel, but it goes into the past; 1700s in Scotland. The book was about 800 pages long, but I went through it rather quickly. I'm currently finishing a non-fiction book, but then I will eagerly start on the next book in the series (I have the next 3 sitting at home).

I limit my cardio workouts to either the stationary bike or the elliptical so that my hands are free to hold a book. I hate exercise and refuse to do so unless I can read to take my mind off of how much my body hates what I'm doing. One of my major post-college goals was to take more time to read for fun, and working out has definitely helped me with that.

G'bye Chubby - Oh, I haven't thought about Claire and Jamie in a while! Outlander was one of the best books ever, whether you're a fan of historicals, romances, time travel/sci fi... I never finished the series, but I think I'll have the library track the rest of them down for me. Thanks for the reminder!

Janet Evanovich!!! I have read all of the Stephanie Plum series- finished number eleven a few months ago and can't wait for twelve to come out. I also have read all of the "Full" series. Both series are Hillarious!!! I'm constantly laughing to myself and anyone around me thinks I've lost my mind. They are actually addicting, can't put them down once you start.

I just finished reading "Bitter is the New Black" by Jen Lancaster. It definitely wasn't deep or thought provoking literature, but I thought it was hilarious.

I totally agree!! I read number 11 first and have gone back and got the rest--I've read 1-9 and that leaves #10. Stephanie is hilarious along with her friends--and I wouldn't be able to choose from the two hot men in her life. Metro Girl is also good.

Another author I just picked up is Sarah Graves--stories of two snoops in New England. I also like Catherine Coulter's FBI series.

A coworker is currently reading Memoirs of a Geisha for her book club and she said that it's pretty good. They read Kite Runner which I borrowed after she was through and it is a very well told story.

Another mystery with a surprise ending is Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane who also wrote Mystic River. I found Mystic River to be a slow read and kind of predictable. Not true with Shutter Island. I quickly read through it and then did a reread to try and pick little things up missed that would have helped me to figure it out.

Sorry..I could go on..as you can tell I LOVE to read!

Told you Jules to go and check out Susan Elisabeth Phillips, Jane sent me one book, and Ive been hooked. I went and bought 2, after my trip to the library. And as of right now I have been waiting 3 months for another of her books, last I looked I was number 17 in the hold line. Ask Marti if she is done with Fancy Pants, and get her to mail it to you. (I mailed it to her once I was done,,,lil book is traveling...lol)

I just read Size Twelve Is Not Fat by Meg Cabbot (of the Princess Diaries fame). It's one of those fun, no thought books. Actually, I've read that she's planning on continuing it into a series, so I'll have to pick up the next one when it comes out.

I just got Heartfire by Orson Scott Card out from the libaray. It's the fifth in the Alvin Maker series. I took a break from the series for a few years ( -_-; ) and randomly picked this up at the libaray. I'm loving it and wondering why in the world I ever needed to take a break. ^_^

Yes Angie, you book pusher I will get SEP next after you got me addicted to Janet's books and Jane tempting me with Susan Grafton!!! As soon as my Shutter Island paperback makes it's way back to my son's apartment I will send it to you!!

I am so ready to get back to recreational reading. It's sad that the last book that I read was written by Freud.

I love reading! I wish I had more time to do it. However, now that I'm riding the bus every day to school, I need something to read! I acutally just went to Borders on Sunday and got 2 books. Easy, fun reads...which is good for the bus.

The one I'm reading right now is May Day by Jess Lourey. It's the first book of a "Murder by Month Mystery" series. I think it said the second will be out in March 2007. It's set in Minnesota where my family's cabin is (which is part of the reason I bought it!). I'm on chapter 7 and so far it's pretty good!

I normally like romance novels, but I figured a change of pace would be good!

I love to read as well! I listen to books on tape when I walk my treadmill. I also listen to books while driving to and from work...my kids hate it. they get into a book, and by the time they are back in the car...I am on another book! The only time I actually READ is at lunch. I have been working on "The Da Vinci Code. I can't wait for the movie! ( it is still comming out isn't it?) I am currently listening to Lisa Scottoline "Killer Smile" I really like these books. They are about a female Law firm.
