I gained weight!

  • I have been healthy eating for 3 weeks now and was doing well. I need to lose about 6 stone in total. I had lost 11 lbs in the 3 weeks, but this week I have put on 2 lbs for no reason!

I have been exercising 3 times a week and stick to 1600 calories a day. I always watch my fat, sugar, salt and carb intake.

Why oh why have I out on 2lb?

I previously lost 7 stone in 1 year and did not put on weight once during that time. Unfortunately I have now put all the weight back on

I drink 2 litres of water a day and seem to do everything right. I can't tell if its my time of the month because I have the mirena coil fitted.
  • It could be a million things. It won't be fat though, and that's a good thing. It's probably just water weight. Scales are fine, but they aren't always 100% accurate. In fact they are never 100% accurate.

Just take it easy and keep doing what you're doing and the weight will take care of itself.
  • The same happened to me after three weeks I put on two pound, I carried on doing the same and was down three the next week. Don't worry about it just don't let it get you down. You're doing great
  • Tigermad, are you weighing yourself at the same time every day? Because weight fluctuates throughout the day.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will not give up!

I weigh myself in the morning, straight after I have been to the loo to be exact!

I will give you an update at the weekend when I weigh myself again.

My scales must be right because my hubbys weight is ok.
  • Don't get too upset and obsessed by the scales - there are so many variables to losing weight that a lot of 'experts' recommend only weighing once a month.

You're doing all the right things, just ignore the blip and carry on just as you are.

One thing I did when I hit a plateau was to zig zag my calories - this website gives a zigzag calculator: http://strengthnspeed.tripod.com/Nut.../ZigZagCal.htm (I hope the link is allowance and works.) Zigzagging stops your body getting used to a set number of calories being consumed each day.
  • Just a quick update. My weight has started to drop again! Yay!

I have now lost nearly a stone, all but half a pound.

I didn't give up and now I am well chuffed.

  • Well done for not giving up and congratulations on the loss
