  • Its been happening quite a bit lately, and Im always curious as to what that person is looking at and why.

I know its me they are looking at, I catch their eyes often, and when I do they always smile at me.

Do you ever wonder? Its both men and women, but for some reason the last month Ive noticed *alot* more. Last night in the grocery store, 4 ppl smiled and said hello to me this never happens to me!

I used to think they were staring because I was fat, or particularly unkept that day. Especially when they looked away quickly when I caught their eyes........now they are smiling go figure!
  • When you're really heavy people avoid looking at you or catching your eye. The looks and smiles that you're getting now are the interactions average weight people experience every day. It's weird not to be invisible anymore, huh?
  • Thats just it Tenn.....Ive been hovering around this weight for 3 yrs. Fluctuating 20lbs up and down. I havent been eating op for the last 2 weeks, and have put on a few Im sure (Im not getting on the scale until my jeans are looser)

Thats why its making me wonder what's up? I coloured my hair, because I thought it was the greys showing that were causing attention turns out thats not it
  • Maybe you're just babe-o-licious
  • I'll ditto what Tenn said
  • I think sometimes we project more confidence than at other times. At times like that we tend to look people in the eye more and they respond. If it is people you see all the time they may be thinking "wow she looks better". If not it may just be that you are holding your head up higher and looking more happy with yourself. That always attracts people at any weight.
  • Quote: Maybe you're just babe-o-licious
    You're cute Tenn, thanks

I agree Sherry, sometimes we just exude more confidence....however any confidence I may be exuding, is false (extremely false) kwim? Its been a bad 2 weeks, some serious emotional issues I have had to deal with, and still not quite resolved. So who knows.....maybe its the vulnerable side that's making ppl smile? Dont know, but its been nice for a change.
  • Robin there still may be some thing some more determination or some thing that is making people notice. enjoy it!!
  • Hey you cant help it that you are a hottie. Enjoy it! : )
  • I say ENJOY IT too.

I absolutely agree with every word here. I read it four times. I believe when I was obese people were embarrased to be associated with me in any way, didn't want me to bring them 'down' to my level.

this is freaky when it happens.
  • I agree with Lacey....thinner people are responded to more positively. I haven't lost that much but my self esteem is back on the positive side of the dial and I think people notice!
  • I have noticed that people smile and wave whenever they see me now. Even strangers are unusually friendly now. Hubby thinks every man flirts with me now. I am more confident and no more baggy shirts and sweats now. I wear what actually fits and am loving it. Just smile and enjoy it, that's what I am doing. I spent too many years in a shadow and not really enjoying life.
  • I agree, smile and the world smiles with you.
  • I could be mistaken, but, I think the woman ahead of me in the grocery store was hitting on me!! Sounds weird eh? ...and I could be wrong, because I never catch that someone is flirting with me.....but I was very uncomfortable with this woman!!
