E! Celebrity Slimdowns

  • Did anyone catch any of the segments? I did. It was entertaining of course, but I couldn't help but feel that there was a lot of the perpetuating the anorexic look that Hollywood so often does. Of course people like Carnie Wilson and Oprah etc were good to see, but people like Mary Kate Olsen and Nichole Richie being refered to as "chunky" or "heavy" just makes me laugh and kind of want to cry at the same time. Oh lord, I swear I almost fainted when Lara Flynn Boil showed up on the list. Oh well, over all it was a good couple hours of entertainment, and I catch any show about fat that I can
  • Wow! Does Lara Flynn Boyle even have any body fat? She looks like a walking corpse!?! Lord help me if I ever feel the need to be THAT skinny! Shows like that are always good for a little chuckle
  • I love to read articles or watch shows on weight loss and obesity. Unfortunately, I don't have the E! channel.
But how can anyone refer to MK or Nicole Richie was being chunky?!? Even when Nicole was heavier she wasn't really "fat" at all.
And Lara Flynn Boyle...she's practically nonexistant as far as having a body goes! Those collar bones are nasty on her.
Hollywood is just crazy as far as weight goes...no body ever thinks they look good enough there.
  • That show has been on all week, but I haven't watched it because I know it would offend me too badly. They're praising women who started off on the smaller side of normal and became tiny, as if that's something we should all admire and aspire to! Ugh. I hate society.
  • I did watch some of it. I thought it would be about overweight hollywood people that lost weight, which some of it was but they threw in some terribly skinny people....not sure why (the olsen twins) Oprah was the #1 pick. I watch The biggest loser and celeberty fit club when it's on. I like shows that are motivating.
  • I found it interesting to learn that Drew Barrymore, who's always called "curvy", weighs in the low 110s.

One person that they had as a commentator on the show - Adrienne from America's Next Top Model/Surreal Life/that show with Peter Brady on VH1 - made a comment that I liked, though. Apparently, she's been called fat and told to lose weight. She said that she would rather be considered fat and still be healthy enough to have a child than starve herself to satisfy someone else.
