Shame and redemption....

  • This is horribly embarrassing to post after yesterday's jumping up and down in glee, but boy, I mostly blew it yesterday! Well, it's not that I ate too much, I did keep the portions under control, but... we decided to go out for Indian. It was fantastic, I ate half, saved the rest, we all had good leftovers for dinner. So, basically, I had Indian twice yesterday. Now I'm assuming that the sodium content is high in what I ate, I am back up by two pounds. Okay, I'm up 2.5 pounds. Dammit... I mean, I know it's water weight gain, nothing to fret over. I'm not depressed or upset about it, but I guess I'm a little disappointed in myself. But no, that's not right! I'm not going to be disappointed or beat myself up. I ate for one day an ethnic food that I love, I gained a couple pounds of water, big deal! I'll drink a ton of water today, flush it out, and be back on track. I can't say that any foods are "forbidden" foods, just foods that I need to control better, and I <b>did</b> that. My portions were fine. Sodium does what sodium does and I know how to handle that...

    So there...

    Okay, I feel much better now. All I needed was a good talking to, I guess... hehehehhee... Silly Lala.

  • Lala: You're doing great! I gain 2.5 pounds (temporarily) after a small meal and a bottle of water, so not to worry!!! You might just find that when you drop the water weight, you've dropped some additional fat weight as well! Best wishes, and keep your chin up! We are all in your corner.
  • oh honey don't beat your self up. i've gained 3 pounds this weekend...but i know it's just water weight from what i ate and the heavy work out from friday. i took my mom out for dinner last night....ok i took our whole family out to dinner last night....we won't even talk about the food bill...can you figure out how much food we had if there were 10 of us and the bill was $160??? ALOT.

    anyways, we were eating seafood. I had 4 chicken wings, 4 stuffed mushrooms, one cheese stick, a side salad with vinegarette dressing, 7 out of 12 of my buffolo shrimp and an order of fries....oh and then topped it off with a peice of ice-cream cake!!!! thank goodness i had that diet coke huh??? lol. anyways, i ate okay before i had gone out but i know i am retaining water from the sodium of the meal. sure it was depressing getting on the scale this morning and seeing 181!!!! but in my mind i know it's just water retention. when the soreness in my legs goes away, so should the higher number.

    don't feel bad. if you can't enjoy going out to eat once in a while, then life is not worth living!!! you did good. don't fret. give it a couple days and you'll see the numbers come back down. i'll bet mine will be back down by tuesday!!!
  • Lala, you should be congratulating yourself LOL... you made TWO meals out of that stuff and I am sure you probably could have devoured it in one LOL. You are doing great... weight fluctuations up and down are normal and yah when we heavy up on the sodium it will happen... but it is not FAT; just water; and that goes off MUCH easier!!
