Yesterday = NSV times 4... Wow!

  • I haven't reported an NSV for a few weeks because well, nothing really out of the ordinary has happened to me . Mostly, I just plug along every day, trying my best to sort it all out and make it all work. But yesterday seemed a little more than just the usual, so here we go!

NSV 1) Found out my scale and my doctor's scale are within half a pound of each other! They may actually be closer, since I was clothed and had a full bladder when weighing on her scale. Now I know my scale is accurate and I can truly rely on the info I'm getting from it!

NSV 2) Because I was having some (routine) bloodwork done (hence, being at the doctor's), I had to fast. Didn't get to start eating until almost noon. At that point, I had a decision to make: Do I try to eat a full day's worth of calories, even though I'm starting at noon? Orrrrr, do I just take the lower calorie day and not try to cram in all the calories to which I'm technically *entitled* ? I chose to take the lower calorie day, and I'm pretty pleased with myself for that decision! I don't *have* to eat just because I *can*.

NSV 3) In addition to my usual daily strength and cardio (40 minutes treadmill) workout, I did an additional 20 minutes on the treadmill and took a 20 minute walk outside (45 degrees and sunny!). I also played 3 sessions of ping pong with my son. We're both pretty good and we play very aggressively (but always friendly), so we really work out during a match. Total time played ended up being almost 1 hour, 15 minutes!

NSV 4) As a direct result of the additional treadmilling and walking outside, my step count for the day was a whopping 16,686! My highest ever! Yippee!

Overall, a very rewarding (but admittedly tiring) day!
  • I bet it was a tiring day. I was wore out just reading what you did that day.

You just keep on, keeping on woman! You rock!
  • Good Job Lena.
    Way to keep moving.

I love Ping Pong. Haven't played in years, sound like you had a lot of fun.
  • Quote: I don't *have* to eat just because I *can*.
Wow, that is an amazing realization and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I love it and will add it to my list of inspirational quotes that I have gotten from 3FC.
  • Lena, Good for you!! Its wonderful that you got your son involved too! Choosing not to eat just because the food is there is a big part of this whole journey for me. Continue in your good habits.
  • great day, Lena! It's really inspirational to see someone make so many good choices all within one day! You're pulling me out of my slump from yesterday (I didn't make it to the gym at all... ). Thanks for the help!
  • Congrats!! It's good to have a great day and feel good about it
  • WOW - I mean WOW!! That is a GREAT list of accomplishments
  • Thanks, all! Overall, I've been very pleased with my admittedly slow and very non-spectacular progress (it seems like so many people have so many more successes and NSVs to be proud of), but yesterday just seemed different! I hope I can more days like that as the weather breaks and I can walk outside!

Can't wait til the courses open and I can start walking 18-holes! That should really boost my step count!
