How strict were you during Ph.1?

  • How strict were you during phase one?
Did you follow the book's menu exactly as it for the first phase?
I haven't stepped on the scale yet. I am waiting until the end of these 10 days to see if I lost any weight. My 10 days are over on Thursday.
  • I started 3 days ago and I have lost 3 pounds. I bet if you are being really strict, then you have already lost quite a few pounds! I am totally motivated now, it's great to get some reward for all this hard work right away! I have been following the diet to the letter (I think) and I can't help myself, I weigh myself every morning to make sure it's worth it!
  • I started Sonoma on January 1st and followed it the best I could. I did have Splenda and 2% milk in my morning coffee but didn't have fruit or other sugars. I made some of the recipes but I'm the type who doesn't really like food combinations. I filled my plates according to the recommendations and ate only whole grains. I lost 4 lbs the 1st week, 2 lbs the 2nd, 1 lb the 3rd, and have been losing very slowly ever since.

Of course, I'm also not really strict most days lately. I'm thinking of doing Phase 1 again to see if I can lose another four or so since that's really all I want to lose. I'm a WW lifetime that has maintained at the max. for my height for almost six years. I've had a personal goal that I've never quite reached.

Hang in there - sounds like you're doing great! TJ
  • I was fairly strict during wave 1. I followed the meal plans in the book but used 1% milk instead of nonfat with my cereal. I also ate more -- slightly bigger portions and more snacks -- because I exercise a lot. I still lost weight, about 4-5 pounds, which is a lot for me. I continue to lose .5 to 1 pound per week on wave 2 and I'm not terribly strict.

Barb, because you have only 10 pounds to go, your weight loss might not be as dramatic as some. I've been hanging around here since early Jan. and noticed the first-time dieters seem to lose a lot more than others, like me, who were already eating clean and tried Sonoma for something new. I think it's because many people who suddenly stop eating a lot of processed foods lose a lot of water weight, which could be what Cindy is experiencing. Chocoholic, instead of trying wave 1 again, have you considered being just a bit more strict on wave 2? You are so close to your goal that going back to wave 1 will probably get you there, but moving to wave 3 may cause a gain. Just a thought.
  • sf - after thinking about re-starting wave 1, I decided to just get serious AGAIN! Now that I've lost the extra that I had picked up over the holidays I don't seem quite as motivated. I think I already HAD moved on to wave 3 - lol! Starting today I'm journaling and filling my plate according to the guidelines. I had started to get a little sloppy, such as having that extra wine with dinner and an "unauthorized" afternoon snack. I'll have to remind hubby that I only get one glass!

  • I am on day 8 and have lost 5 pounds. I do weigh myself every day to keep me motivated. I have tried to follow the diet closely but I have not been doing the meal plans in the book. I really haven't started too much exercise yet. That is my goal for this week. I was wondering about repeating wave one. I wouldn't do it now, but was curious if later if I stall if that would work. I haven't seen anything that said not to repeat wave one.
