Thank you all for sending your get well wishes. I was released at 7 this morning by my surgeon, but the RN (had't seen her before) thought I needed to be released by my internal med guy also before I could leave. After waiting until 10 a.m. the RN finally had him paged & he said there was no reason to wait for him, so we left with the new prescriptions-Stopped on the way home to have them filled & am good to go.
Surgery did go well on Wednesday (the surgeon said). They had planned to put me in intensive care overnight with a mask, but said that everything was looking so well & the oxygen levels were good that they were just going to take me to a regular room instead. My daughter & hubby were both waiting for me. Other than that I don't remember much of surgery day. I did have some jello & chicken broth & walked.
Sleeping Wed. nite was a bit of a challenge, as we weren't able to get the reading light shut off at the head of the bed, so the RN & CNA draped blankets over the top of the bed rails to help some. It was a little like sleeping in a canopy bed. The next morning, they discovered that the problem was the remote-not the right one, so we couldn't shut the lights off.
Thursday, I woke up at 5 a.m., had breakfast & sat in a chair for 1 1/2 hrs. When the doc came in, he wondered why I hadn't used much of the pain killer & I said because I don't have pain. He said that was good news & advanced to the full liquid diet, so I had a scrambled egg for breakfast with applesauce, lunch was cream of wheat & cottage cheese & dinner was cottage cheese & applesauce with 4 protidiet drinks in between. I have yet to feel any nausia, but I'm sure that at some point it will come. I walked 250, then 300, then 350 feet on Thursday and about 400 twice today, while I was waiting to be realeased.
All in all, I think I am doing pretty good. I have a problem with always being tired though, so I think I'll spend the next few days just sleeping. When I got home today, I had a scrambled egg & cottage cheese then a vanilla shake with 50 grams of protein. I still have 15 grams to get in today so think Nectar lemon tea may be in order tonight.
