  • Good Morning
I called Lina before going to the hospital. Still doing really well. They told she is useing a lot less pain medicine than most. She said "But I slept really well?" She went for a walk at six and asked for more chicken broth. THey gave her 8 oz. of it. Said it was getting a little cold. Well See you later. Have a wonderful day. It is a beautiful day here, amazing sunrise, birds chirping (not all is well the cat threw up) but still a great day

  • All is well & I'm home.
Thank you all for sending your get well wishes. I was released at 7 this morning by my surgeon, but the RN (had't seen her before) thought I needed to be released by my internal med guy also before I could leave. After waiting until 10 a.m. the RN finally had him paged & he said there was no reason to wait for him, so we left with the new prescriptions-Stopped on the way home to have them filled & am good to go.

Surgery did go well on Wednesday (the surgeon said). They had planned to put me in intensive care overnight with a mask, but said that everything was looking so well & the oxygen levels were good that they were just going to take me to a regular room instead. My daughter & hubby were both waiting for me. Other than that I don't remember much of surgery day. I did have some jello & chicken broth & walked.

Sleeping Wed. nite was a bit of a challenge, as we weren't able to get the reading light shut off at the head of the bed, so the RN & CNA draped blankets over the top of the bed rails to help some. It was a little like sleeping in a canopy bed. The next morning, they discovered that the problem was the remote-not the right one, so we couldn't shut the lights off.

Thursday, I woke up at 5 a.m., had breakfast & sat in a chair for 1 1/2 hrs. When the doc came in, he wondered why I hadn't used much of the pain killer & I said because I don't have pain. He said that was good news & advanced to the full liquid diet, so I had a scrambled egg for breakfast with applesauce, lunch was cream of wheat & cottage cheese & dinner was cottage cheese & applesauce with 4 protidiet drinks in between. I have yet to feel any nausia, but I'm sure that at some point it will come. I walked 250, then 300, then 350 feet on Thursday and about 400 twice today, while I was waiting to be realeased.

All in all, I think I am doing pretty good. I have a problem with always being tired though, so I think I'll spend the next few days just sleeping. When I got home today, I had a scrambled egg & cottage cheese then a vanilla shake with 50 grams of protein. I still have 15 grams to get in today so think Nectar lemon tea may be in order tonight.
  • Today is the first day of having an upset Tummy (or 2)
I woke up this a.m. at 7 a.m. feeling somewhat nauseated. Decided to get out of bed for awhile & in the process rolled over on my right side, which has the incision that bothers me the most--so now I also have some pain. Got out of bed another way, went to the bathroom & took some pain med & went back to sleep until 9:30. I still had somewhat of an upset tummy, so made cream of wheat & had that for breakfast (2 oz.).

I took my binder off for awhile & that felt a little better--maybe it was too tight. I am just finishing my first protein supplement for the day (Chocolate Mint) and will take a shower. Maybe that will help--If not Herbal tea is my next choice. At least I'm not throwing up. I am hoping that this gets better. Guess I got spoiled, not having any problems in the last few days.
  • loodie honey - be careful with things like cream of wheat. it's the carbs. i suspect that you're having dumping, which is the result of too many carbs. try to keep your carb portion below 15 grams and you should start feeling better.
  • Good advice jiffy.

Hope you feel better soon Loodie!
