Even though I haven't quite made my 250 goal for this yet (TOM and water weight are foiling me), I have actually begun a running program! Hence the new avatar and motto next to my posts, and the new slider in my weight tracker.
I am using Cool Running's "
Couch to 5K" program, which starts you out with a little jogging interspersed with lots of walking, and gradually works you up to more and more running. The key is slow and steady increases, and rest in between runs so your body can get used to this new activity.
I can't even do a full 60 seconds of jogging yet, but I've gone out three times, jogging a little more each time. And last night I went to a running store and got professionally-fitted running shoes. My cross trainers weren't up for the job.
I was determined that when I hit 250 pounds, I'd challenge myself physically. I'm not quite ready for Roller Blading, which was my first thought. So I'm hitting the sidewalks running! It's very exciting so far.
