Lent Ideas?

  • Day three and going strong!! But I have a problem, NO MEAT today. I really am not a fish person. Can you give me some ideas for meatless days?
    Thank you!
  • Lyndon, have you ever tried some of the soy products out there? Or veggie burgers. Brands that come to mind are: MorningStar farms, Garden Burger, Boca Burger, Dr. Praeger's.. etc. They have a wide variety of products from chickenless type patties, burgers, veggie burgers, meatless crumbles

    The URLs are

Whole new world of food out there!!
  • Thank You Linda, I Never Even Thought About Those. I Have Tried The Morning Star Products A Long Time Ago. I Heard That They Are Much Better Than They Used To Be. I Might Stop On The Way Home And Pick Something Up For Dinner.
  • I'm just having whole wheat pasta tonight. And since I haven't got the Sonoma book yet I think I'll just go ahead and give up chocolate for Lent. That'll be a good way to start getting off some sugar before I start the diet.
  • Hello Lyndon,
I just had a veggie wrap from subway verry good with spicy mustard.
  • How about a taco-salad with a whole grain tortilla cut into triangles ans baked for the crunchy chips, and refried beans instead of meat? Load on the veggies and you'll be good!
  • I guess this will count as a recipie as well as Lenten suggestion. Last night, even though it wasn't Friday, I made a veggie pasta with shrimp.
sauteed Mushrooms, tomato, green pepper, garlic, and broccoli in a pan with Olive Oil and Water. (season to taste). I cooked some whole wheat pasta. When everything was about done, I added (and you wouldn't have to if you don't want) some pre-cooked mini shrimp to the veggies and some lemon juice. I mixed the noodles in and YUM!

I ate a bowl and still had left overs.

    Lent will be fun!

Does anyone have any snack and/or salad dressing ideas for Wave 1?

    Thanks
  • Thank You everyone for all the good ideas. So far I love this diet. Day 5 and down 5 pounds!

KC if you look at the top of the Sonoma forum page, we have a recipe section. There are a few snack recipes in there from what I recall.
