average weight loss

  • Hi -

My husband and I will start the Sonoma plan on Saturday. I am curious as to what the average weight loss is? Do you lose significant weight during the first 10 days? Or is it a slower process over all? We do plan to add 3 days of weight training and 4 days of aerobic exercises as well.

    Thanks.
  • Welcome to the Sonoma board. Glad to have you.

Average weight loss is really hard to measure because there are so many factors involved.

Larger people tend to lose more right off the bat... less to lose, less you tend to lose per week.

If you've been eating properly and/ or exercising already, you may not see an initial "whoosh" loss that some but not all people see.

Men lose faster, generally. Rotten fact of life, but it seems to be true for most. Doesn't make me happy either.

Safe weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week and that is what people seem to experience on this plan. Some weeks you may lose nothing or gain and you've been perfectly on plan. Some weeks you may lose when you deserved a gain. Some weeks the scale will stubbornly refuse to budge no matter how much you threaten it.. sometimes for weeks a time. The important thing is to remember that while weight loss is nice, your body will be changing in other ways you won't see on the scale.

My experience: better bloodwook, better skin, better hair, more energy, less depression issues.. etc. along with weight loss. This plan has benefits that are outside the scale so don't forget to take notice of those. Stick with it. The benefits are there for those that stay the course.
  • Sounds about the same as any diet if you follow it! They say if you lose 1-2lbs per week you have a better chance of keeping it off. Sounds good to me!!
