Where is everyone?

  • Saturday & I just got home from shopping with my Little Sister. Her birthday is on Wednesday. We went to the mall & she had a great time picking out her gifts.

While I was there, I got my husband a 15-DVD set of Alfred Hitchcock movies.

Oh yes - Strawbridge's is closing down & everything is 40, 50, or 60% off. I got myself some underwear.

    All-in-all a good shopping day.

  • I have two kids with the flu!!! lets see how long it takes for the third to get it.
  • Strawbridge's is CLOSING??????

    Noooooooooooo! Say it ain't so.

Remember when, on that corner in Center City, when there was a Strawbridge's, Gimble's, Wanamaker and, oh, what was the other one... Lit Brothers, I think? It's been so long. I need to get back to Philly!

Glad you and Sis had a fun day of shopping!
  • Hi Vicki,
So sorry to hear about sick kids. Take care of them & you.

    Lena,
Store is still there in Philly - now it is Lord & Taylor's.

Take care. Glad you posted. I felt like I was in a Twilight Zone episode.

  • Eep, what an insensitive clod I am!!!! Yes, I'm sorry to hear about the kids, Vicki. It's so hard to see your little ones not feeling well. They always look so pitiful I hope they'll be up and running about soon!
  • Vicki, Sorry about the kids! It seems that my littlest one (4 1/2 years) has an encore performance of the stomach bug! Also last night I found out tht one of my closest friends (friends since we were 20!) Has an in-operable brain tumor (anaplastic astrocytoma-grade III). She has a two year old daughter and an eleven year old son(from first marraige). Son will go with his Dad. Jilly (two year old) will be coming to Baltimore with Mom and Grandma for treatment (unfortunately not curative). My friend has chosen to have her treatment here in Baltimore...at Johns Hopkins...for that I am thankful...as I can take her little girl Jilly to the zoo...playdates etc...and also be helpful to "Robbie" with medical things. Her attitide is amazing! She is only 40 and otherwise really healthy so prognosis may be a bit better (average is 1 1/2 years)....I am sooooo SAD! This has hit me so close to my heart. Live each day to the fullest ladies and NEVER GIVE UP!
Please keep Robbie in your prayers daily and I will keep you posted.....A

  • Allie~ big to you and your girlfriend. I can't even imagine. I'll keep her in thoughts and prayers!

Vicki~ hope your kiddos start feeling better soon!

Lynn~ sounds like you had an awesome time shopping with your sister and got some good bargins to boot.

    Hi Lena
  • Wow Allie - my prayers will be with you and your friend! How awful to hear something like that. But yes, it serves as a reminder to all of us to appreciate everyone and everything. Life is so very precious. We spend too much time complaining and not enough time just enjoying each other.

Lynn - sounds like a very nice shopping day indeed. Good for you!

Vicki - hope the kids are feeling better soon. Nothing worse than the stomach flu and kids!!!

I have been VERY busy as of late. I will try to hang around more this week. But it will be after Tuesday. I am taking my hubby to a grocery "show" at Foxwoods Casino Mon night thru Tuesday. It is kind of neat. The sponsor pays for our hotel, there is a cocktail reception Monday night with LOTS of food and open bar. Tuesday, you walk around tasting different products or trying them out as the case may be. We have an opportunity to order them on the spot for extra savings. It will be very tough for him to get around on the crutches all day, but I really just want to get him out of the house for a bit. Other than work and therapy, he hasn't been out for 3 months! And maybe we will get to squeeze in a little gambling Monday night??!!

Have a great Sunday! Good luck with Weigh Ins!!!

    TTFN- Sharon
  • Allie, my prayers are with your friend.....how wonderful you can be of such help to her during her treatment.

Still no more word on my BIL.....so I will pray for both of them.

    Phyllis
  • Allie so sorry for your friend. I will keep her in my prayers. That is wonderful though with her comming to Johns Hopkins that you can help her out when she really needs it most.

The kids are running around again like they were never sick. I hope the rest of us don't get the flu.

Why is there not more information on your BIL Phyllis? I thought they were to have results on Thursday?
  • Allie, sorry to hear about your friend. I will keep you both in my prayers.

I wasn't on yesterday because the cold got worse. I had 100 degree fever yesterday and spent it on the couch or in bed. This is starting week 3, so I guess I'm calling the doctor tomorrow.
