New member looking for support and new friends

  • Hello:
I am a new member looking for motivation to reach my goal and to learn how to control myself. It's very difficult(for me) when you are starting a diet and have two kids and a husband that you have to cook something nice for them and your diet food too. I really want to lose weight but I feel that I need somebody to talk that really understand.
  • Hi rad7775
I'm very new to the site too. I'm married and have 4 kids. I've had a problem with my weight since I was 17. Back then I was 115lbs. Today I weigh 154. I've gained and lost over the years about 150lbs. I've tried almost every diet on the market and with my busy work schedule it doesn't leave much time for exercise. I've tried alot of diet pills with little or no success. My husband isn't much support . My kids forget it. There only worried about themselves. My older sister is so thin she doesnt worry about any one except her boyfriend. My little brother and sister are a little supportive. My brother loves to lift weights and goes to the gym every day @ 4am. He suggested I try that. My little sister has never had a weight problem until recently. She's trying to lose the baby weight she gained and is suggesting we keep a tally of what we do every day as part of our weight loss programs. I've started doing pilates and that has helped a little. I can't really do much strength and cardio training do to a dislocated disc. So my dr. says to keep it light.
Try eating small meals in b/t. Eat a good senseable breakfast, (2hrs later) snack time try a piece of fruit or some veggies, eat a small lunch like a fruit salad or any type of salad (limit the dressing), (2hrs later) snack time eat a snack bar, dinner senseble, (2hrs later) try eating a piece of fruit. No eating after 7. You want to avoid foods that contain Partially and Partially Hydrogenated in the ingredents section. It what is called Trans fat. (or I like to call butt fat). It messes with you metabolizem and can cause cornary heart disease.
If you need support or help just let me know. I'd be happy to tell you your doing good on your bad days (as long as you tell me I'm doing good on mine).
  • I am new, also and looking for some help!
I have apparently had sleep apnea for a while, but going undiagnosed, it enlarged my heart with a result of high blood pressure, diabetic medication and had to have a pacemaker implanted to help my weakend heart. This was all this past week.
Because of all this, I am on a low fat low sodium diet. Oh, I just quit smoking, too-about 1 week ago.
My husband is treating all this like I just had my tonsils removed or something. The rest of my family, while happy I am on the road to recovery, are all tsk tsking me because I should've seen a DR a long time ago. Hard to do with no insurance and not a lot of extra money lying around.
So-I complely understand where you are coming from. I am determined to lose the weight and get healthy. I know it is going to be a tough road, though!
