exercisin' ideas

  • i have been walking/jogging/running with my boyfriend's dog for about 2.5 miles as far as cardio goes. the thing is, i know i need to incorporate weights. I have 5 and 7 lb freeweights at home and i just bought a karen voight circuit training dvd today at best buy and it's good (just did the arm workout and they're still burning ) do any of you know any good exercise dvds, classes at the gym, machines, or anything you do for exercise that could help me change it up. I bought a stability ball but I can't find any DVDs to use with it. I bought a book for it but it's going to be returned b/c I really can't work out and look at the book. I'm definitely a follow the leader kind of workouter, hahah.

oh by the way, while i was at best buy checking out the exercise dvds i came across carmen electra lap dance and striptease workouts, hahahah. maybe i'll buy one of those when i'm not ashamed to take off my shirt and use those striptease skills i pick up. my boyfriend might enjoy. lol

  • Why pay for workout moves...I go to shape.com and self.com both fitness magazines. They have all the workouts that have been featured in their magazine for free on their website with pictures. I know self even has mp3's f someone talking you through some of them and videos of the other. They are about to start the SELF 2006 Challenge which is a 3 month workout plan that also has an accompanying eating plan. Its pretty good from what I hear.

    Great one, Merecat!

You'll find tons of great info in the Exercise and Ladies Who Lift forums. I believe there's also a review section about videos.

I'd invest in a gym membership or a set of dumbells and start doing some lifting...the more muscle you build, the faster your metabolism and the tighter you look! Muscle takes up much less room than fat!

You might think of hiring a personal trainer...they can help you plan out a regimen that will work for you.
  • Check your local public library. Many have a nice selection of exercise videos or can do an interlibrary loan. It's a great way of pre-viewing to see if it's worth buying or not.

  • If you get channel FitTV , there are tons of programs that incorporate weights, stability balls, etc. There are even aerobic classes that do Latin, African and Hip-Hop moves.
  • When is the Hip hop one on?
