I am not new to WW in fact I've lost about 50# and kept it off for a year, but I never met goal which is still 10# away. I need motivation, I cannot get myself to routinely exercise and I cheat on points all the time. How do I get myself back on the bandwagon before I'm in big trouble and gain all my weigth back. (maybe this is the first step)
thanks for letting me share. Petra

I think we all get to that point at times
Sometimes it is so wearying to have to track what we are eating, when we would really like to dive into a huge, yummy meal and the calories be damned! I motivate myself by reading. Yup, you got it. Fashion magazines, fitness magazines, and health magazines get me going. I especially like the articles where they show someone who once weighed say 350 lbs. and is now down to a size 8. Those stories motivate me -- Okay, she could lose hundreds of pounds, so I can lose a measly 20, no problem. The fashion magazines show you what you will be able to wear and how great you will look once you drop the weight. Posting a picture of yourself somewhere where you will see it all the time might help too...one of yourself heavy and one of you slim would do the trick!

I don't think you can ever do enough....I read lots of articles, watch motivation tv shows, participate in mini challenges, journal my foods, change up my excercise routine. .....etc etc...the list goes on. Do you belong to a gym? if not, maybe sign up for a trial period and see a personal trainer. That will give you a boost for sure!! Buddy up with a friend, take your dog for 2X daily walks....I think the big thing is not to be satisfied with how far you have come (although 50#s is FANTASTIC!!) but you need to continue your journey and your new good healthy habits until you reach your GOAL. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Accually I have a full gym in my basement and my DH does strongman training but I want nothing to do with his type of exercise. All I need is to find some way of motivating myself to go down to the basement and do whats good for me.It's hard when the gym is so close but so far away from my intrest.

I find I need to join classes to keep me going
If you can afford it, join a Y or a gym and take group classes. It's a social event, gets you out of the house, and is fun. I have tons of yoga and exercise tapes and DVD's, but can find every excuse in the book not to use them. Knowing I have paid for a class and there is a spot there for me gets me motivated.

Do you have a tv in your workout room/basement? I find that putting on a movie or a great show will keep me on cardio equipment longer. Like, maybe you can say to yourself, 'I can only watch my favorite show if I am on the treadmill while I watch it.' Then just stick to it. Associate your fave show with workout time. It will make it less dull.

well It may sound kinda funny......but the first thing I put on when I wake up is my excercise gear. If I'm wearing it, its less of an effort to get changed. And if I don't go and workout right away....then its a constant reminder that I have to!!! Good luck!

for me when I just don't feel like doing what know is the right thing , I just say to my self ok just 5 min it not that long any one can do anything for only 5 min, let say my weighs, I will do that and most of the time I do a lot more then 5 min, it just thinking of it some times is harder then doing it, so tell your self that you will just do a little and see how it goes, maybe you will do a bit more then you thought and that will make you feel good about your self. hope that's helps a bit

I hang up my skinny clothes so I can see them each day I get dressed and remind myself that I want to be in those again. I have also written a list of all the reasons I want to lose weight and I write how it makes me feel with all this extra weight on right now. When I need to be reminded why I am working so hard to lose weight I can go back and read those entries.
Someone also mentioned looking at fashion magazines and such and I do the same thing. I will see a woman that looks really healthy and read the inspiration weight loss stories in magazines and I know I want to feel that same way.

Have you decided that you are worth it? What I mean is, if you don't feel like you are worth putting the effort into for the next ten pounds, you won't try hard enough.
