  • substitute! Ha!

    1/2 cup cottage cheese
    2 egg whites
2 heaped dessert spoons of cocoa
    1/2 cup oats

Blend CC, egg whites and cocoa in liquidizer/blender

    add oats and blend further

plop all mixture in non-stick frying pan (for 8" pancake) and fry on low-ish heat till cooked through, turn over and brown on the other side.

    DEMOLISH

This tastes just like choccy cake! I'm going to experiment with cupcake things at the weekend. The quantitites are negotiable, for thinner pancakes use less oats and add a bit of milk, for thicker pancakes use more oats, but BEWARE they stick up the blender something chronic, so perhaps blend them just by themselves first to turn to a flour, then empty blender, then put wet stuff in and blend, then add oats.

I'd do the nutrition but I can't be bovvered! Approx 250kcals and LOTS of protein and hardly any fat and not bad on carbs!!
  • Sounds... different! My problem is that once I get a taste for chocolate I can't stop eating it. One would not be enough
  • :'(
I was expecting pictures of my beloved chocolate cake...

    lol :P
  • seriously - it's amazing! I never would have thought it looking at the ingredients. I am SO amazed at it, really really try it!
  • How much does it make - how big is it in size?

Am considering it as an alternative toa choccy bar
  • My mum makes Ferrero Rocher substitutes from crushed Ryvita and a small amount of Nutella to stick it together. I wasn't convinced but they are actually pretty scrummy
  • Quote: plop all mixture in non-stick frying pan (for 8" pancake)
    It makes an 8" pancake
  • The title of this thread brings a tear to my eye.... my absolute favouritest EVER dessert is warm (not hot and definitely NOT cold) chocolate fudge cake with lightly whipped double cream and topped with chocolate sauce. In an ideal world it would be made with very, very good chocolate.

Its weird really, because I'm not a chocoholic.
  • Oooh yeah I like choccy cake too!

One day I'll be able to have a slice of it and not want more!
  • Nah! That'll never happen to me. I don't much like chocolate but warm chocie fudge cake is the exception.
  • I'll be your guinea pig Frus you KNOW how I love chocolate
  • sounds great- thanks!
  • Thanks 2frus, I tried it out on my nephew (13-year old stick insect) and sis (not 13 and no stick insect).

SCRUMMY! And easy to do, it also makes sure I have another reason to buy in those rolled oats for the perfect healthy brekkie (that's porridge with chopped apple)!.
  • Sounds great. Oh, what I'd do for a piece of chocolate cake. I must try it out.
  • Hey Frus i've got some packets of Quaker Oatmeal in the cupboard..got it to have for brekky and absolutely hate the stuff do you think I could use them? or should I just use the regular stuff? How much is a dessert spoon? i've only got teaspoons and tablespoons its inbetween is'nt it? I wanna try it now after the good "reviews"
