I counted my calories today - phase 1

  • I entered everything at the *********** site. They don't much approve of SBD over there, saying it's a fad diet.
    Numbers don't lie, though. According to their counts, I only ate 1,267 calories today! They wanted me to get 55% carbs, 15% protein, 30% fat. Where do THOSE numbers come from? On P1 today I got 31.4% carbs, 43.5% protein and only 25.1% fat.
    The thing is, eating less starch seems to make me satisfied on fewer calories. I can tell you that on 55% carbs, I would be RAVENOUS at ony 1,267 calories! I remember reading one author who said SOuth Beach was nothing more than a low calorie diet - yeah, well, one where you don't get so hungry! One where you're satisfied on less! And if "I" can be satisified at this level, Ms. Bottomless Pit of America, well...

  • That was a totally cute message and I agree! I know that in theory it's really just burning more cals than you're taking in, but it's also training you for a healthier lifestyle... lean meats, real carbs and lots of veggies...

    I still count calories every day, but am not as obsessive about exact numbers as I have been in the past...

  • I'm kind butting in here. I really have no idea what SBD really is but have you tried fitday.com to count your calories and things? It doesn't talk back.
