O/T Fundraising advise needed...anyone?

  • Hi all,
Things are very slowly happening around here. Still no word from the insurance company on how much she will be getting. When that finally happens we will know much more about how dire the situation is.

We have received some help from some wonderful people, which I'm so deeply grateful for.

Do any of you have any fantastic fundraising ideas? Between getting everything done and needing a little *crying time* for myself...I need your brilliant brainstorms.

    Thanks so much

  • Actually I'm involed with a fundraiser here next weekend for a friend that needs it for medical reasons.

Rent a hall, get a dj, charge admission and have a dance. We've been canvassing local business to donate some things for raffles/door prizes and you'd be amazed with the things we've come up with. The hall capacity is 300 and we're charging $15 admission. With that, the bar proceeds and the raffle money we're hoping to round up over $10,000.

    Just an idea.

  • You can also do benefit dinners. We have them all the time around here. If you know some cowboys, they also do a lot of benefit team ropings. HTH.
  • I ran a couple of auctions to help raise funds. We had local businesses donate prizes and auctioned them off. I advertised it in the community section of the local papers. You might be able to find a local church that would let you use their fellowship hall and hold it there. This would also get a lot of activity from their members.
  • Thank you!

I think we're going to try to start planning a benefit concert/dance-y type thing. With either raffle tickets or an auction. Hopefully with a bar as well.
I'll keep you all updated and please keep on sending the ideas..I'm open to anything and everything.

  • Hi. I am a massage therapist. I know that any RMT's up there in Canada would be more than happy to give you some gift certificates for your dinner/dance/banquet. Look in your phone book under THERAPEUTIC massage therapists so as to not attract any kooks. I think Canada has their MT's register so look for a #.

  • Thank you Robyn,...I'll do that!
