Got a Question

  • I got this recipe from the South Beach portion of the board and i was wondering if there is a way to incorporate it into the Jorge Cruise plan

    Chocolate Milkshake
All Phases. One serving. Recipe by Kathy Sill.

1/2 cup part-skim or low fat ricotta cheese
1/2 to 2/3 cup skim milk
    2 teaspoons cocoa powder
    3 packets Splenda
    1/2 teaspoon caffeine-free instant coffee
Splash of vanilla (1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon, to taste)
Ice (as much as it takes to make a nice thick icy shake)

Put all ingredients in a blender, and blend until thoroughly mixed.
  • Well - this comes to just about 230 calories or so, making it inappropriate for a 100 calorie snack, however I think (just my OPINION) that if you were jonesing for chocolate this wouldn't be a bad way to get it. If you drank half it would be a good snack (115 calories - not worth getting bent out of shape about 15 extra calories once in a while if it saves you from eating 1/2 lb of chocolate!) OR you could use that as your proteins in a meal - say maybe with breakfast - add a piece of fruit (ooooh! Maybe some strawberries?) and a whole grain selection - maybe oatmeal or perhaps some 7 grain bread...

I think you could use that if you think it would float your boat... you get a very nice amount of protein - if you try it and think it is any good be sure to let us know!
  • I have tried it was using as a breakfast on SB and it really fills the void so you say that I can cut it in half and use for a snack also??
  • I don't see why not - there are no real restrictions on snack - as far as content goes... every now and then - when I feel I might loose it - I indulge in a skinny cow ice cream sandwhich - that is 120 cal - but as I said MUCH better than going for a banana split!

The good thing about this is it is so protein loaded - should hold you over pretty good!
  • Thanks I will try using them as snacks just using half the ingredients
