6 meals a day...

  • Sorry, I'm getting a little post-thread happy but I keep seeing threads on other forums saying "6 meals a day blah blah" and was wondering if any of yall attempt to do this on the SBD? I think it would be pretty hard to think of 6 small meals and follow p1 but maybe ill try to do that more when i get to p2. Anyone know that it works from personal experience?
  • Heh...I don't keep track, but maybe it works out to something like that.

I follow the rule of trying to eat every 3 hours of so to keep my metabolism at full speed (and also to avoid putting myself in the situation of being very hungry, which is when I usually cave for carbs). Basically I still eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and have snacks between...and over time my "meals" have gotten smaller and my snacks a little larger, although meals are still slightly bigger than snacks....? Confusing, I know. Even though I probably technically do eat 5-6 small meals a day, it's less overwhelming to just think about it as eating every 3-4 hours.

Aside from the metabolic and blood sugar benefits, it also takes some of the "power" out of food and of meals...for me, it's somehow much easier to think about it as "hey, time to eat some veggies and protein" than "damn, where should I go for lunch?"...semantics, I know, but it works...and I eat because I have to/want to rather than I "should" (that, and I'm on a student schedule, so traditional meal times have no real meaning anymore!).
  • What has worked best for me is 3 meals a day with two snacks and dessert. Breakfast around 6:30, snack of raw veggies around 10, lunch (leftovers from dinner) around 11:30-12, snack of raw veggies or yogurt around 3 and then dinner around 6:30 with dessert of SF pudding or jello around 8:30.
  • Maybe 'meals' is a kinda grand word for what some of us do. 5 or 6 refuelings? nutrition breaks? feedings
  • In general, when I'm OP (which I'm not right now), I eat breakast, lunch, and dinner, with a mid-morning snack, a mid-afternoon snack, and an evening snack. The snacks are just to keep from getting so hungry that I want to eat everything in sight. Typical snacks include veggies with hummus or dip, string cheese, nuts, sf Jell-o with CW Lite, a sf lf/nf yogurt, sf pudding with CW Lite, and so on.
