Can someone help me with a question????

  • My name is kelsmom. I have a question for someone who follows the diet and knows. How many servings of beans can we have. I mean Dry Beans. Like Pintos and navy beans ,black beans. Can we have them everyday? How much is a serving.
I cook my beans from the package. I don't like the ones in the can.
Too much sodium and too high in GI. index.
    Please help me.

I have followed this way of eating for 1 month now. I have lost 11 lbs.
My hubby has lost 15lbs. in a month. we love this way of eating and don't feel we are deprived like on some diets. He has to watch his Vitiman K. So we have to eat more beans.
    Thanks in advance. Kelsmom
  • Hi Kelsmom! Welcome to the forum ..You and hubby have been doing GREAT ... The book is silent on serving sizes...so I go by the Good Carb/Good Fats companion guide... All the Legumes are listed as a 1/2 cup. so I would consider that as a serving size.
  • From kelsmom to Schatzi
thanks for the help. What is good carb/good fat companion?? Can we have the beans everyday? The book doesn't tell you but there are lots of beans in the soup recipes.
  • Sure, have them every day. The book suggests a half cup serving to start. I think that is because of the gas issue. Your body needs to get used to it.

The GCGC book lists many foods, serving sizes and how often they are allowed. It's handy but certainly not necessary.

Hope this helps and to The Beach!
