Felicia--
That is exactly what I think and why I'm doing low carb.
I'm not doing any particular plan but I'm just eating less refined carbs--like pasta, rice, bread, pizza, potatoes--less of that starchy stuff.

Every night for dinner I eat some form of protein--beef, chicken, fish, pork with 2 vegetables. I usually stick to the same kinds of veggies--corn, carrots, green beans, spinach, asparagus, broccoli, butternut squash, zucchini and I buy the mixed veggie blend--the one with the carrots, peas, green beans, corn, and lima beans. Sometimes I "splurge" and I'll have potatoes.

My boyfriend doesn't follow the diet as closely as I do, but he's slowly losing weight as well. He goes out to breakfast with the boys at work and he tells me he's good but I know he's eating the homefries

. I also say that I eat salads and for snacks I'll munch on raw baby carrots, celery sticks, and I've bought the single serve bags of microwave popcorn.
Have you all found out that you have just naturally started eating smaller portions? Since I started eating this way I don't eat as much as I used to. I
do not weigh or measure anything--I eat how much I want and I've kept losing weight and once in a while when I have a
"cheat day" I've found out that I can eat half of what I used to be able to. For example, one day I had a patty melt with french fries and onion rings and I was only able to eat half the sandwich, half the fries, and I gave some of the onion rings away. Before that meal would have disappeared.
Anyway--welcome to the site MsCrockett. You'll find out that the people here are wonderfully supportive. We've all either been there or are there so we can relate. See you later.
