finding bread...

  • ok I spent the other day at the grocery store(Kroger) and looked at every loaf of bread they sold. The best i could find were 3 grams of fiber and 3 grams of sugar, made with 100% whole wheat or whole multi-grain. I checked all the store brand, Pepperidge Farms, Oroweat, Arnold, etc, etc

From what I've read I want higher fiber, 5 gm but I can't find it. do I need to check out the [really expensive] nautral store or a bakery??

My local stores are Kroger, Food Lion, Ukrops, SuperWalmart, Sam's Club.
  • I could be wrong, but I thought the Weight Watcher breads had 5 grams of fiber in them. You might want to check.
  • There's a sticky thread in the FAQ forum here http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59303 on choosing breads in phase 2. You might find it helpful.
  • I found that my Super Wal-Mart has the EarthGrains brand. I haven't looked at any of the other kinds, but the one that I get is the EarthGrains Extra Fiber 100% whole wheat. It has 5 grams of fiber per slice. Good luck with your search!
  • I read that sticky Heather but a lot of the breads listed are ones I checked at the store and they aren't as good as the post says. All the Pepperidge Farms ones have only 3 gms of fiber and 3 or 4 gms of sugar. Not one of the PF has 5 grams of fiber.

I'll def check out the Earthgrains one at Walmart though. Thanks Jana.
  • There aren't any Krogers here, but there are QFCs, which are owned by Kroger - they typically have a selection of hearty, wholegrain, organic breads. My favorites are usually the sprouted grain breads, although they do tend to go bad quickly (no preservatives) if I don't freeze them.
  • Weight Watcher bread (either Whole Wheat or Traditional Grain) and Sara Lee Delightful Whole Wheat have tons of fiber. They're good, too!

I get my bread at Super Walmart
  • you guys are awesome!

Seriously can you imagine sunning on the beach without this board? I'd be burned for sure
  • I like the Healthy Choice brand whole grain bread.
