Huge victory for me.

  • Although i am still standing strong against weighing myself till Thursday this week i have accomplished something. I have noticed that i havent been thinking about food all day and looking at the clock to see when its time to eat. This was a big struggle with me on every other diet i ever tried, waiting for the clock to say time to eat instead of my stomach saying it. I have been trying to stick in small snacks between meals to keep my metabolism boosted but if ind that i keep forgetting about it. I havent been getting to 1000 calories often but i find i am satisfied and not hearing my tummy grumble. But i have been eating healthy foods and calorie dense so i am getting alot more food in me than i would with the junk foods staying at 1200 calories.
  • guess i am the only one that thought this was successful.

Not at all! You have done a great job! It is hard to get over the habits you have formed with food and you sound like you are breaking the barrier.

I also find it difficult sometimes to 'remind' myself to have a snack as I don't feel hungry, or skip breakfast. Now I am making myself have some breakfast even if I don't want it and have set a time limit for eating to finish for the day at 8.00pm each night. It is just too easy to go and make a grilled cheese on toast at 10.00pm at night so I had to put the restriction in there.

If you can, try and increase your calories - 1000 is a little low. Even if its a couple of slices of cheese and wholegrain crackers, or a tin of tuna to bring you up a bit to maybe 1200.

    Keep up the good work
  • Haha, I was excatly the same way. In fact, on days I am not too busy, I still look at the clock to see when I get to eat. So well done!
  • Going below 1200 calories, even with just healthy foods, is not something you want to do. You will slow your metabolism down. How about posting a day's menu so we can see what you eat?
  • It's very good that you're listening to your body but you do need to eat more, otherwise, when you stop losing weight you won't be able to drop your calories any further without wanting to chew your arm off!

Also on a very low calorie diet, you risk losing muscle rather than fat (since it is easier for the body to "burn" muscle) and that's a big bad no-no! Muscle uses calories just being in your body, so you want to hang on to all the muscle you can.
  • Hi, i'm new here but i am loving this forum. I think that is a very good thing. I am also trying to lose weight and i have been noticeing lately, that i am not as hungry as i used to be. some days i have to force myself to eat even though i am not hungry.

So congrats on not relying on a clock to tell you when to eat.
  • I think it is great that you are not so focused on your next meal. I do agree that you should never eat fewer than 1,000 calories a day. You risk dropping your metabolism and slowing your weightloss. Add a small handful of nuts, or something to bring your total calories closer to 1,200.
